I'll kick this off ...

I still like Kang Dan-i, but my interest has definitely waned with this show. I appreciate how hard she works and that she tries to keep optimistic, but I'm over a couple that can't be honest. And their interactions are saccharine and lack the zing fun of the first few episodes, when they were just friends. I watched Touch Your HeartSincerity whatever show this weekend. [Spoiler (click to open)]It's a straight romance, but the romance is so much better in that the couple uses their words, are transparent, and honest. Even with how ridiculous they are, watching a couple say "I like you and was sad because..." is so refreshing.

I've always found his character rather boring and smug; he's like a teenager dream of the perfect man. SMUG. Plus, consistently he doesn't use his voice/position at work, like he's just a cutout of a powerful editor and founder.

I still rather enjoy our second leads, because at least they show some personality range.

[Spoiler (click to open)] re: him not using his voice at work I am surprised he didn't really throw a hissy fit and threaten to leave given the level of dramatics he had on the phone when Hae-rin told him Dan-i quit. He's such a narcissistic drama queen. So tired of him. He's the one piece of this drama I won't miss when it's over with.

I still love this drama even though the main couple doesn't move me that much, I can believe Eunho is in love with Danyi and I thought [Spoiler (click to open)] the bit where he hangs out of the car to cheer her on was cute! but I don't really believe it from her end. The strength of this show has always been about Danyi getting back to the workplace for me, [Spoiler (click to open)] when she asked them to reconsider about letting her stay in the job and then she went and cried in the bathroom or when they were all talking about her when she was just standing outside had me in floods of tears. As someone who at one point could not get a job for very similar reasons as her (though I'm young and not middle aged so it's not really the same lol), its so humiliating so every time it looked like that is what she was going to have to go back to it was hitting too close to home. Her feelings in regards to her job and self worth is done so well even when this drama misses the spot in other ways.

mewgical 12th-Mar-2019 12:21 am (UTC)
I didn't really think about it that way, but now that you mention it is does feel more forced on her end. like she's trying something new and doesn't quiet yet if she wants it so she's trying to fit into the relationship with how she thinks it should be for Eun-ho.

[Spoiler (click to open)] I'm sorry you've went through that. I relate hard to Dan-i too because of this and we are around the same age. It's really shit when you end up with a long period of unemployment and the job force acts as if you don't deserve to be let back in and refuses to see what you did on your own as accomplishments.Or even jobs ignoring the fact of how hard it is to get into a job now and that only add's onto the work gap history you'll have. I think this subjects what really drew me into this drama.

the career stuff + challenges of being a woman are important and well done. I'm glad we have the marketing manager who also talks about the challenges of career + motherhood.

And I've had some tough female bosses who really just seemed bitter that they had to play like men, and didn't have life partners, who felt/acted like they thought they needed the younger generation to go through the same shit. I get a bit of that from a female character too, which is important to show.

I'm annoyed at how the guys treated/are treating Hae-rin. Like they have been [Spoiler (click to open)]sappy manipulative assholes about Dan-i and omg heaven forbid Hae-rin have a real moment and get a bit drunk and sad over the asshat she liked for three years breaking up with her via a hallmark card. but they can moon over dan-i and seo-joon can refuse to let dan-i properly break up with him and then he can get sad and drunk about it. just ugh.. fuck them. I swear on everything unholy that Hae-rin better not end up with Seo-joon. She's way too good for him. Hae-rin and Miss. Go should form a night club duo and be young and free.

Really all the romance at this point feels so fake. I really wish this would have been a melodrama or think piece drama about how women are treated in the work place and about the publishing system. I find the parts about the women and how they cope with the workplace and men, and the publishing parts more interesting than any of the romance.

And whoever edited the show, or whoever decides when to cut to scenes needs to never work again. Because that abrupt switch from [Spoiler (click to open)]Dan-i crying in the restroom to I think it was the one new recruit guy was ridiculous. Reminded me of how they skipped from the poets death/funeral to happy romance. I get it's both serious and romance and comedy, but these flippant switches between light and heavy are jarring and to me it takes away from the show.

and I feel stupid having to ask this but [Spoiler (click to open)] did that office girl throw Dan-i under the bus or did Dan-i really forget to send that memo about the authors book reprints or whatever it was? It felt like to me she was throwing her under the bus. But I also though Miss. Go screwed her over with that idea and she really did think of it too.

All complaints aside, these two episodes killed me. I cried so hard. But I'm glad it's ending next week though.

When the second lead kept flashing back to her with spots, as if the spots were so horrifying, I was very ticked. The merciless looks evaluation annoys the f*ck out of me. Women do not always need to look their absolutely best to worthy people.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 12:32 am (UTC)
Although not gonna lie [Spoiler (click to open)]I cackled at Seojoon having her as “red spots” or smthg in his phone. We all do petty things like that and I appreciated that small piece of writing decision.
daynr 12th-Mar-2019 12:46 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]I'd probably make it her nickname too, because it's funny. But he came off like it was backed by disgust, which sit down dude. You ain't perfect either.

And they act like they all have the most sensitive noses ever, if his laundered sheets smelled then he needs to learn to do laundry.

(but I still think they could be cute!)

[Spoiler (click to open)]yeah that disgusted shiver he did... I was like “bro, get over it”.
LMAO. He just needs some scented softener or smthg.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 12:26 am (UTC)
My impression is that [Spoiler (click to open)]she threw her under the bus. Everyone was shocked when she blurted it out, especially Haerin and Mr. Bong.

Also, I agree the men are being a bit ridiculous about Haerin. At the same time, I was like “Haerin.... you’re getting a biiiiit stalker-y.” She needs to find a nice guy that’s not a work, but gets how important it is to her. I think her and Seojoon could end up good friends, like they learn to support each other and be that listening ear. That’s how I’m leaning right now.

ty ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^12th-Mar-2019 01:34 am (UTC)
I agree with yours, and do not know how to do a Spoiler. :)
mewgical Re: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^12th-Mar-2019 01:50 am (UTC)
If you're wondering how to do spoiler cuts this is how I do them

mewgical 12th-Mar-2019 01:42 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)] ok thanks. I was kind of wondering she she kept bringing it back to b-but dan-i was supposed to. But I didn't know for sure.

see I took it as maybe eun-ho was making her be persistent about it, or the boss since she emailed/text someone after he said he finally did forgive her. I guess given how the bosses are there I could see why Hae-rin would want to make sure, or have to make sure, that seo-joon was pacified and happy with her. idk I'm probably being pro hae-rin since they both acted like that to her.

see I fear it because they are already pushing at everyone coupling up.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 03:13 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)] Yeah I definitely read that as her trying to cover herself on the fly and everyone knowing that she’s lying through her teeth.
Oh I agree. The artist-publisher relationship is so critical and he could easily blame her if he wanted to pull out of his contract. It can be a tough line to walk. I’m pro her being happy in a HEALTHY way haha.
Ugh yes, esp with all that boss button nonsense. Like single dad and single career lady.... obviously they’ll get together.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 12:29 am (UTC)
Ugh I’m getting increasingly annoyed at [Spoiler (click to open)]Dani and Eunho. He is awful. Like stands up for her outside of work, but then pulls back when it actually matters. And seems controlling. I feel like they could try the bf/gf thing for like 6 months or smthg and then it will fail. I genuinely don’t feel a romantic spark between them. It’s so... friend-like.
Also UGH at Dani being all “omg I have a job and a bf!!!” Like HELLOOOOO you have a child.... or did you forget about her???
daynr 12th-Mar-2019 12:48 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]The child! lord, that fact alone is starting to make her character look bad, and I'm team Kang Dan-i!

It’s like they retconned that entire plot point. It’s so weird.
mewgical 12th-Mar-2019 01:45 am (UTC)
To me they really did forget about the kid and I honestly thought that they would [Spoiler (click to open)] go into why the kid was bullied and now goes to school abroad, but guess that went no where. When they started introducing seo-joon then eun-ho as real romantic interest then they flipped dan-i's personality 180.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 03:15 am (UTC)
Agree completely. [Spoiler (click to open)]I’m also amazed the ex husband completely disappeared. Him and his restaurant and pregnant girlfriend... like how is that not a plot point either?? Dani is almost acting like a school girl and I’m disappointed.
mewgical 13th-Mar-2019 01:56 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)] I'm glad the husband and gf are gone. It would have been more drama. IA about her being a high school girl. And another plot point that went missing I thought about, the fact that Dan-i was a bully but she saved Eun-ho. I thought that was going to be developed somehow.
shalottlady07 13th-Mar-2019 02:14 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]Yes! I completely forgot about that too. She seems too wimpy now to have been a bully. Like hello personality retcon.[Spoiler (click to open)]
ty 12th-Mar-2019 01:35 am (UTC)
I know, the kid is just gone.
shalottlady07 12th-Mar-2019 03:10 am (UTC)
She’s like living in a fantasy world and it’s so frustrating!!

Once again i just wanna say that jung eugene is the cutest!!!!!

modestgoddess79 13th-Mar-2019 04:55 pm (UTC)
I'm really angry at the way Haerin is written, she's just super unprofessional and stalkerish. Plus intentionally eating food she is allergic to cause she got her heartbroken is ridiculous. I'm glad she's not the type to take her anger out at other women but her behavior towards both guys makes it impossible to feel sorry for her. Both guys told her politely to stop coming to their houses but she completely bulldozes over their boundaries.

I'm mad the plot is leading the single career woman and the single dad together. Like why not let them be happy single?! That scene with the button sewing was ridiculous and inappropriate. Just give her a safety pin to make it through the day then she can pay someone to repair her clothes. Are we supposed to believe she made it this far in her career without ever replacing a button?!

What was the point of making Dani a single parent if her child was going to never be shown or taken into consideration. The daughter hasn't been brought up since she mentioned it at her date.
thebloomroom 18th-Mar-2019 02:12 am (UTC)
So late but im over this show its boring!!! I dont buy the main couple at all, its so forced. This is my least favorite LJS drama at this point, Dani and Eunho have no chemistry. Why doesn’t he use his power at work to save her? Its dumb. They made Hae Rin seem like a total stalker too. Ugh
