Female celebrities to take legal action against false rumors

Oh Yeon Seo’s agency has announced that it will be taking legal action against the spreading of false rumors about the actress.

On March 13, Celltrion Entertainment released the following statement:

Hello. This is Celltrion Entertainment.

The rumors that are currently spreading about actress Oh Yeon Seo are completely groundless, and we are deeply concerned about the serious defamation of the actress’s character resulting from the thoughtless reproduction of false truths.

We are informing you that we will be using all methods available in order to protect the actress’s rights, including legal action and the gathering of evidence about the writing, posting, and spreading of such unconfirmed rumors.

Thank you.

Jung Yu Mi’s agency has declared its intent to take legal action against the spreading of false rumors about the actress.

On March 13, Star Camp 202 released the following statement:

Hello, this is Star Camp 202.

Although actress Jung Yu Mi is currently being mentioned in specific rumors that have been spreading on online communities, social media, and messaging apps, we are informing you in no uncertain terms that all of these are groundless rumors.

We find it extremely appalling that the actress’s name is being mentioned in these unfounded rumors.

Should the defamation of [Jung Yu Mi’s] character and honor continue, we plan to respond by taking strong legal action so that [those responsible] are punished.

Additionally, if there is any further spreading of false rumors or malicious reproduction [of such rumors] in the future, we will take both civil and criminal legal action against those responsible, without any negotiation or leniency.

Thank you.

Jung Yu Mi previously appeared together with Jung Joon Young on the MBC variety show “We Got Married” in 2013. The actress stated the following year that the two had not remained in touch after their stint on the show.

Lee Chung Ah has spoken out against rumors linking her to Jung Joon Young’s chatroom controversy.

On March 12, it was reported that Jung Joon Young was part of a KakaoTalk group chatroom along with BIGBANG’s Seungri where participants shared illegal hidden camera footage of women. He was booked along with other participants of the chatroom and he later admitted to the crimes in a letter of apology.

When the contents of the chatroom were revealed with censored names, many people began to speculate about the participants and the women who appeared in videos in the chat.

Referring to her name appearing on trending realtime searches after rumors spread that she was a woman mentioned in the group chatroom, Lee Chung Ah wrote, “Thank you. But don’t worry,” on her Twitter account.

In response to growing speculations, a source from her agency Kings Entertainment said, “We weren’t initially going to take any action because it was nonsense, but Lee Chung Ah is very upset. She expressed her thoughts in a brief post on social media because she was upset.”

They continued, “Many people may misunderstand if the agency doesn’t take action. Her name is still on the trending realtime searches on a portal site, so we have no choice but to take strong action. We will take legal action after internal discussions.”

Lee Chung Ah is well-known for her appearance in the film “Temptation of Wolves,” as well as many dramas including “Flower Boy Ramyun Shop” and “Because This is My First Life.”

On March 13, Oh Cho Hee took to her Instagram and said, “It’s really not true. I have no relation to the matter. I don’t know how many phone calls I have received until now since this morning.”

She continued, “This is something a senior actor said to me. ‘An actor’s job is to understand people, so don’t get too hurt [by them].’ Thank you those around me, as well as everyone who is worried about me.”

Following the reports by SBS on March 11 and 12 addressing Jung Joon Young‘s act of sharing illegally taken videos and photos of sexual activity in a group chatroom with his friends, names of several female celebrities were brought up as rumors on various online communities.

In response, Kang Kyung Yoon, a reporter from SBS funE who released the initial reports on the controversy, clarified that most of the victims are not celebrities.
