Prosecutors prepare to summon G-Dragon to court

Big Bang's G-Dragon will be summoned to an investigation for the violation of the Youth Protection Act and for lewd conduct.

The investigation will focus on G-Dragon's 1st solo concert last year, “Shine a Light”, which exhibited sexual and violent themes, and the fact that it was rated as "strictly prohibited for pre-teens under the age of 12".

The Eastern Seoul District Prosecutor official stated, “We are in the process of collecting and reviewing all the information on the subject matter,” then continued, “We will determine the specific time frame when G-Dragon will be summoned to this investigation after this.”

G-Dragon held his concert last December which included a sexy performance with a female dancer for his song, Breathe.

The prosecutors are seeking for reasons why “She’s Gone” and “Korean Dream”, which were banned by the same Act in November, were still added to the show.

The two songs mentioned are considered not suitable for minors and are prohibited for sale, rent, screening and/or distributing in any channels by this law.

Individuals who are convicted of lewd conduct according to the Article 245 will face fine not exceeding ₩ 5,000,000 and one-year imprisonment and the penalties for the violation of the Youth Protection Act are ₩ 20,000,000 in fines and three-year imprisonment.

A representative from YG Entertainment gave a statement on the issue saying, “YG will assist the investigators in this process and will take care of it on behalf of the client (G-Dragon)" and added, “we will hereby accept the decision and are responsible for the legal action taken according to the Act.”

If they really want to protect children, Why don't they do something about the parents of all those "sexy babies" in skimpy outfits from starking first? That seems a lot more serious and disturbing to me :/

Ok I'm a lil slow with this stuff so, even if he had a 12+/19+ ratings for the show he will still be prosecuted for performing "She's Gone" and "Korean Dream"?

That's kinda sad isn't it? To not be able to perform some of your songs even in your own concert, ever.

I'm not really into GD but I can't help but feel for him here.

He could perform it if he rated it properly.

Youth Protection Act:
"The Youth Protection Act of 1997 underlies these government efforts to censor lesbian and gay web content. This law, designed to check the distribution of harmful media materials and drugs among youth as well as access to harmful media establishments by youth, gave the ICEC wide power to decide what media were "harmful" to youth in the information and telecommunications arenas. Article 8 of the Youth Protection Act includes within its "deliberation standard" of harmful media the following: "To describe bestiality or the commission of adultery by mixed couples of men and women, incest, homosexual love, abnormal acts such as sadism/masochism, sex mania, acts of prostitution, and other forms of sexual intercourse frowned upon from the point of view of society in general.""

Alright. I lost. Although there wasn't any dry humping, sexual intercourse was indeed described.

But still,

Year 2010 and Korea, NIGA MIBDA.

Is GD the one who will actually get the punishment, or his managers who planned the concert? Or both? I didn't think that Idols really had a whole lot of control over what they did?

Either way, I hope things work out well for him.
vvvanilla 6th-Jan-2010 01:58 pm (UTC)
I guess it's him because he was the one who "performed" the "lewd act". But for the other issues, I believe, if proven "guilty" that he's not only the one at fault.
petitpoisbleu 6th-Jan-2010 01:59 pm (UTC)
I feel so bad for him.
This is getting serious.
vampire_cake 6th-Jan-2010 02:02 pm (UTC)
Well, what he did on the stage is bad...
whetstone 6th-Jan-2010 02:14 pm (UTC)
at this point i'd just like to know if he's going to jail or not. :/
kellygreen 6th-Jan-2010 02:26 pm (UTC)
Me too. I don't want to deal with the long, drawn out process of a criminal investigation. Can we just forward to the verdict?

and one-year imprisonment
Because this is just as bad as driving under influence. Korea you are FUCKED up. And I'm sure Kangin will get away with it all.

Ughhhhh my day has just gone from bad to worse and I've only been awake for half an hour. I'm talking to my best friend about it but he hates GD almost as much as I love him, and he's just being a dick and making it worse. Jiyong can't go to jail...his skinny ass wouldn't survive. T___________T Fine him, sure...but jail?? Come on. You're killing me, Korea.
inheritable 6th-Jan-2010 02:33 pm (UTC)
He'd be prime meat jail bitch :(

Poor thing shouldn't go there.
ayumikoshiro 6th-Jan-2010 02:48 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much for starting of my 2010 the unhappy way. I still don't see how the responsibility falls on GD. Then again maybe it is his responsibility to check on the ratings of his own concert and play the role of organizer. Seeing as how YG had rated concerts in the past maybe they all assumed that someone made that call and nobody checked or modified the performances afterwards.
