You can stan this cutie here

The nomnomnominations for the pet competition was a success and I have a lot to go through, so while we wait for our furry babies to make a comeback, and keeping up with the 'Omona needs no male' mood, here comes the second installment of omona's fluffy take over: the fluffy takes.
Pretty much like vintage_boom Hot Takes, but make them fluffy (good vibes, positive vibes, happy vibes), and preferably women centric.

ex: Homan moms who prefer cat over dogs are queens and that's a fact.

Unrelated Kitty Proposal:
As a third installment of the fluffy take over, I would like to get your opinion on a "woman of the month" serie.
The goal would be to have a post focused on one queen of the k-industry.
We would need a part based off facts: bio, debut, achievements...
And a part more personal to the writer of the post: dream comeback, dream concept, dream album, hidden gems (b-sides no one talks about)...

Names like BoA or Uhm jung Hwa come to mind. But also LE or Hyolyn
I realize this is a lot of work but if you're interested in writing a post like that PM me.

PS: I might have nine lives but my inbox doesn't, so I'll turn off the notifications. Sorry >.<

- SM Station is the gift that keeps giving. If that compilation CD wasn't so OTT expensive I would totally listen to it non-stop. As such do we know if there is a Spotify play-list out there for it?

- I am unabashedly in awe of someone like Taemin who has risen from being the third best singer of SHINee to now one of the best soloists out there with a discography bar none (in 2 languages!!!)

- SM has also managed to produce one of the best dancers in K-Pop, Ten. I am in awe of the raw talent on display and the fact that if nurtured responsibly he could become the face of K-Pop Choreo the world over.

- Every time BTS rises to the top it reminds me that BoA, TVXQ, Big Bang, SNSD, SHINee and the Wonder Girls really were the groups that travelled into uncharted territories and it makes me happy that I was there to see them rise and to see BTS take that baton and reach even higher than the ones before them. This is only good for K-Pop. I do not see any downsides to the global domination of a genre that gives me bops and visuals and serves choreo.

- I am happy to see K-Pop idols debuting from countries other than Korea, Korea didn't invent the formula so I am happy to see it being spread and other Asian countries revitalizing their cottage industries on the back of this global phenomenon.

- The women of K-Pop are fighters and I salute them.

It's 125 songs. Idk if it's comprehensive, but it's a lot lol.

tbh, the normalization of plastic surgery kind of scares me with kpop's rise. It seems like a band-aid for deeper psychological problems to me, best healed not by a doctor's scalpel... Kpop seems to spread a really unhealthy image of women to young girls - most of the girls in kpop are literally starving themselves (but pretending they aren't). Also all idols seem to suffer mistreatment by their companies, an industry that glitters on top but is totally rotted on the inside. Women having their image and concept created by old men around a meeting table to be healthy porn for men... idk. The rise of kpop kinda scares me.

Whoops, this was supposed to be a fluff thread wasn't it, lmao. I need to take my bitter, jaded ass out.

I feel like that’s not a K-Pop specific problem though. Every time you turn on the TV, look at an ad on the subway or a million other ways women get attacked for how they look, it’s obvious that surface perfection is a disturbing concept.

So I don’t think it can be laid at the feet of K-Pop. But you’re right, it is a major concern in the entertainment industry.

I’d rec Junho’s (2pm) solo discography. It’s pretty extensive in both Japanese and Korean. Quantity-wise, at least on par with Taemin’s, if not more (although more Japanese than Korean). Plus, he co-writes almost everything. Most people don’t realize everything he’s put out.

Different style but still really good

I love Junho, his music hasn’t been my style in the past so I’ll give it a try again. My comment was more on the whole package Taemin has become.

Haha yeah, it’s not everyone’s style. I like some of Taemin’s music, but I completely agree re. the whole package. I really appreciate him bringing androgyny/alternative gender presentations into the mainstream.
