According to a new report by Star Today, Seungri and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk have been booked on suspicions of embezzling funds from Burning Sun.
Authorities traced a portion of Burning Sun’s capital to Seungri and Yoo In Suk after it was moved through various accounts and other abnormal routes, and they have obtained testimony from someone related to the matter.
Police have also booked the CEO of Jeonwon Saneop, a company that holds 42 percent share of Burning Sun, after finding that funds from the club had also been moved to the company through methods similar to Seungri and Yoo In Suk.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are currently performing a search and seizure at the offices of Jeonwon Saneop and Yuri Holdings for financial records. Police estimate that the embezzled funds amount to tens of millions of won (approximately tens of thousands of dollars). A source stated that some suspicions have already been confirmed, and added, “Because the embezzled amount could increase after investigations, we cannot reveal any specifics at this time.”
Previously, Seungri and Yoo In Suk were booked for embezzling from the club Monkey Museum.
In addition to embezzlement, Seungri is under investigation for prostitution mediation, bribery, and sharing illegally taken footage.
Woman claims she was sexually harassed by Choi Jong Hoon + his lawyer responds
A woman has stepped forth with claims that she was drugged and raped by Choi Jong Hoon.
According to reporting on April 11, person “A” claims to have met Choi Jong Hoon in the U.S. in March 2012 and after drinking a cocktail he handed to her, she says she lost consciousness and was then sexually assaulted. According to “A,” she believes Choi Jong Hoon used the date rape drug Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB).
“A” is currently in the process of filing a complaint against Choi Jong Hoon, and she states that she gained the courage to inform people of her story and get an apology from Choi Jong Hoon after the case of hidden camera footage being filmed and uploaded to group chatrooms came to the surface.
Choi Jong Hoon’s former agency FNC Entertainment was cautious in their stance as they stated, “We have never heard of this case,” and “We have already terminated our contract with Choi Jong Hoon, and we do not believe the woman has filed the complaint yet.”
Choi Jong Hoon’s lawyer spoke up about the new allegations and said, “We filed a complaint on charges of blackmail two weeks ago to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor’s Office against a woman who was threatening him [Choi Jong Hoon] with false information,” and “The case was forwarded to the Seongdong Police Station, and we believe the details will be revealed in the investigation.”
They continued to state, “We spoke with Choi Jong Hoon and he stated that though he it was true that he met the woman in question in the U.S., he has no memory of raping her. Not only did he not know what GHB was, but we believe these charges were brought up based on recent events to threaten him.” When asked how the two met, the legal team responded with, “They met through an acquaintance,” and they stated they heard nothing from Choi Jong Hoon regarding any sexual intercourse between the two.
Roy Kim and Eddy Kim admit to sharing illegally taken photos + Choi Jong Hoon admits to illegal filming
Roy Kim, Eddy Kim, and former FTISLAND member Choi Jong Hoon have admitted to spreading illegally filmed photos. Choi Jong Hoon has also admitted to filming illegal footage.
On April 11, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s provincial special detective division revealed at a press conference that Choi Jong Hoon will be forwarded to prosecutors on charges of sharing one personally taken illegal footage and five other footage from other sources, thus violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
Roy Kim and Eddy Kim will also be forwarded to the proseuction for sharing illegally taken photos. They admitted to sharing photos that they downloaded from the internet in the group chatroom, but not to filming photos or videos.
A total of five people were forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office, including Mr. Kim, a former MD (promoter) of Club Arena that was part of the group chatroom, for filming and spreading illegal footage.
The investigations surrounding Seungri, who was also part of the chatroom, are still ongoing. He was booked on charges of sharing illegal footage, but it was not confirmed whether or not he filmed any footage. As Seungri was also booked for several other charges including prostitution mediation and bribery, the police plan to forward his case to the prosecutor’s office after all of the investigations are complete.
Lawyer explains how Jung Joon Young unwittingly saved chatroom conversations for police
In an interview with JTBC’s “Lee Kyu Yeon’s “Spotlight,” lawyer Bang Jung Hyun explained how Jung Joon Young unwittingly helped the police in their investigations.
Bang Jung Hyun first talked about how they currently have records for less than eight months. “If there were 10 victims in those eight months, then there must be so many more for the three years [2016-2019, that we don’t have records for]. That three year period is completely cut off. It’s gone from investigations.”
He went on to explain that the chatroom members periodically changed rooms to cover their tracks. “Every two months, [Seungri] would tell everyone to leave the chat and delete it. So there are several group chats.”
When asked if leaving a chatroom effectively deletes all records of the conversation, IT expert Kim Ho Kwang said that, legally, the records are stored for a set length of time. “But imagine the volume,” he said. “It’s enormous. And there is no backup. So if you needed to find something from one week or one month ago, it’s often the case that you won’t be able to find anything.”
Except Jung Joon Young never left the chats, said lawyer Bang Jung Hyun. “That’s why all of this is happening. There’s no trace that he ever left the chats. He’s just still there.”
“If everyone had left the chatroom and it was deleted, it would have been difficult to recover anything. Ironically, [Jung Joon Young] not leaving the chat has become the catalyst for everything being revealed.”
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that a non-celebrity member of the group chat has been booked on suspicions of rape. In the same broadcast of “Lee Kyu Yeon’s Spotlight,” lawyer Bang Jung Hyun spoke about the contents of the chatroom that led to this development in the case, as well as suspicions of aggravated rape.
JTBC reports on more details of footage in group chatrooms + non-celebrity member booked on suspicions of rape
JTBC gave further details in a report on April 11 related to the group chatrooms including celebrities and non-celebrities where illicit videos and photos of women were shared without their consent.
Warning: discussion of sexual assault and rape.
It is reported that a non-celebrity member of the controversial group chatrooms was recently booked by the police on suspicions of rape.
JTBC states that there are at least two mentions of the word “rape” in a chatroom that Jung Joon Young was in, as well as a word meaning “loss of consciousness.” The members of the chatroom have denied allegations of sexual assault.
JTBC’s “Lee Kyu Yeon’s Spotlight” shared an interview with lawyer Bang Jung Hyun, who submitted the contents of the group chatrooms to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission on behalf of an original whistleblower who chose to remain anonymous.
He stated, “Firstly, there are videos and photos taken of a woman who is not conscious. There are about 10 photos and videos of what could be presumed as forced sexual assault.”
Bang Jung Hyun said the victims he’s met do not remember the events at all, and added that there is a photo of a victim where her clothes are being taken off. He stated that the victims in this case do not know that they are victims, even if they were raped. He shared suspicions that gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB) was used.
The lawyer went on to say, “There was a situation in which a woman was moving and speaking in gibberish, but she was talking. She doesn’t remember it.”
“Her eyes were closed, she was not conscious, and her body was slumped over,” he said. “Anyone could tell that it was clearly rape. I don’t know if she was drugged. It looked serious.”
He also stated that there is a case where aggravated rape is suspected. Aggravated rape is a term that can be used to refer to rape that involves two or more perpetrators.
He said that the perpetrators appear to be some of the people in the group chatroom, including a celebrity. There are four people presumed to have been involved in the act, with at most six people there at the time.
Bang Jung Hyun said, “A woman is not a human being there. She only appears to be a tool, a way for them to satisfy their sexual desire. They act like, ‘Since she’s not even a human being, I can use her to satisfy my desire and then throw her away.’ There was even the expression ‘throw away’ actually used.”
He went on to say that one person has decided to undergo an investigation. When asked if the suspected perpetrator in that case is famous, Bang Jung Hyun replied that it is a famous person.
