Flashback Friday

Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’ll go back 9 years to the 5th week of Friday, 2010. Have a good weekend, everyone!

#3 4Minute “Huh”
I was so obsessed with this song back then omg, and it’s still one of my most favorite songs from them. I also really liked this styling with the tight coveralls and boots, I think they look so hot.

#2 CN Blue “Love”
The only part I remember of the song is the “love love love” part lol. I think it’s one of the two CN Blue songs I could pick out at first listen. Both songs have a very repetitive chorus, makes it more ear wormy lol.

#1 Wonder Girls “2 Different Tears”
I never really got into the song, but I think it’s because I hated the music video so much. Without the MV it’s not as bad as I remember lol. I definitely remember these live stages, I remember this choreo pretty well. And OMG Sunye’s outfit, my DD boobies could never!

Honorable Mentions

#5 MBALQ “Y”
Did OP post this song just because of Lee Joon? Hell yes she did. I never remembered MBLAQ for being dancers, but omg so much choreo! I couldn’t have lasted through half of this, let alone sing the song too. Rain wrote, composed, produced, and choreographed the song and it totally feels like it. The choreo feels VERY Rain.

#7 f(x) “Nu ABO”
I only remember bits and pieces of this, mostly just the chorus though. But that choreo is coming back to me. Everything else is a blur to me. I thought this was the debut before I googled it wtf.

omg, so many great and iconic songs! i can't believe it's been 9 years since they all came out.

2DT was WG's first comeback after sunmi left and their american debut. nu abo is one of my fave f(x)'s songs, same goes for Y. Love is a typical CN Blue debut days song, catchy af, it's a shame that i can't really listen to their songs anymore.

I can’t believe it’s been that long. Y has way too much auto tune. Lee Joon was so hot.

I've always been partial to the chinese version of 2 different tears myself:

'Nu A-B-O!' is such a cool song on its own and definitely a fun follow-up to la cha ta

Wonder Girls ❤️ I love YeEun’s and Sunye’s voices. They sounded good in that performance.

Omg Y is SUCH a Rain song. It actually sounds like his voice at the very end. Also, I really liked G.O.’s and he was actually in a trio(?) called Ty Keys before MBLAQ and it was so hard to track that album down way back when. I think I special ordered it while I was in Korea.

Also, I missed noticeably live vocals on music shows. Please bring those back.

Editing because OMG NU ABO. I really liked this song and Luna’s voice is great.

i always think about that one video whenever "Y" pops up somewhere. >_>;

"HUH" is the song that made me a 4minute fan. i loved that era.

I will forever love 4minute! HUH is a powerful song I like it a lot!

Also Hyuna's forever intense and that stage charisma is really powerful. When I watch (G)IDLE stages, I get the same vibe from Soojin which is rare for me coz I've never seen or felt the same kind of charisma from any other kpop idol. I see lots of really powerful and amazing ladies like BoA, Chungha, Sunmi but Hyuna's always on a different kind of charisma and power.

I remember this week in Kpop so very clearly aaaaaaaah. HUH is a masterpiece. NU ABO is one of my all time favourite Kpop classics and a completely underrated f(x) release.

I'll always remember MBLAQ's Y for not only being a great song, but also because of the fake mr removed of it that did the rounds as the real one. It was bloody hilarious, I have that downloaded somewhere still lmfao

I loved HuH and Nu ABO, Two Different Tears as well. And I remember when Y first came out my mom said she liked it at first listen.

Yas, had to come in got my boys MBLAQ!! I never understood why shows would bad mouth (jokingly and seriously) that all Lee Joon was good at was dance then you'd watch their performances and he was singing most of the song!!

2010 was such a GREAT year, I basically loved everything released that year lol

Nu ABO is still on my current playlists.

and 4minute's Hit Your Heart has no bad tracks man UGH I miss them

I never could get into CNBlue, but the rest of these are so good. I can't believe it's been nine years since these were released.
love_keiko 1st-Jun-2019 05:07 pm (UTC)
honestly these throwbacks keep reminding me how many straight up bops 4minute had.

ahhh 2 diff tears. the choreo was sooooo good but i could never fully enjoy this song bc sohee and lim sound so awful on this track. especially live. for the life of me i dont kno why JYP couldn't figure out a way to use their voices (or lack thereof) better.

NU ABO IS THE SHIT!!! the whole track is absolute fire and i can't believe this was slept on. loved the choreo for this.

ahhh MBLAQ. too much autotune, still miss the boys.
aeries_amethyst 1st-Jun-2019 05:56 pm (UTC)
I was trying to see if 2DT was not as awful as I remembered and I was like nope. Still my least fave title track from WG. The only good thing about that era was how amazing Yubin looked.

Listen to my Y! That was one of the very first kpop MVs I saw and was the moment that I became an MBLAQ stan! \o/

Nu ABO will always be such a bop! Loved that era! I remember learning the choreo. Still loving Vic and Krystal's hair! *O* Can't believe they gave Sulli that terribad wig though O_O Don't worry OP, I used to think this was their debut song too OTL

HuH is another bop! Yet another iconic 4minute era! *O*

MBLAQ has a great discography that was only getting better when they broke up. A lot of their songs still hold up today.

NU ABO is one of my favorite f(x) songs. Their styling is all over the place in this video but I love it.
aures 2nd-Jun-2019 06:57 am (UTC)
YES @ all the iconic songs!

i LOVED HUH and i still do, it's so great

Y is also such a bop, mblaq had such good songs and they were so much fun, i miss them
sra_interesante 4th-Jun-2019 12:24 am (UTC)
aww mblaq

for me they're the perfect example of idols that look so much better in real life than in tv shows
or maybe music shows those days are more realistic
or maybe because i stop finding idols attractive a long time ago lol
soyunatetera 4th-Jun-2019 03:23 am (UTC)
I love Huh! and Nu abo!! great songs
Ugh I have bitter memories about 2 different tears, I liked teh song and the choreo, but I was so mad at jyp after Sunmi left, so I didn't ejoyed this comeback and they promoted like two weeks and went back to the US.... sighs

All of these are good but CNBLUE and MBLAQ are my favorites! CNBLUE pretty much is what got me into KPOP still love their songs and I am not sure what the future will be for them when they get out of the service between Yonghwa and Jonghyung not sure if they will even try to get back together or disband.

MBLAQ just seeing them makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Love their songs I was just on an MBLAQ kick earlier today listening to their songs. This is one group I miss not only for their songs because they were talented but their variety skills. I just hope Lee Joon still does something when he gets out of the military. When he went in he was saying he wasn't sure what he wanted to do when he comes out. I don't know if he still wants to be an actor/singer/dancer but I really hope he does something because he is an amazing actor, and I love his voice and enjoy watching him dance!
