The Today Show gave them a nice introduction, and short but sweet interview, the performance was [OP´s thoughts]clearly not one of their best imo, there was some sound issues but that English version was certainly a surprise!

Build show was def a little awkward at times (they could've benefitted from a translator than relying 90% on Mark doing that) but there were some cute moments! They talk about the theme of the album, their favorite title tracks, how Eclipse came to be etc. I do commend them for trying their best to speak in English even thru obv difficulties.
Also that one fan's message to them was just... perfect.

@mods so sorry if I'm posting this twice I got confused and can't remember if I posted this already or not asdfjjk

Here's the girl who sent the video message!

I'm kinda bummed the performance wasn't their best but some of them got amazing live vocals. The English version was a nice surprise, tho granted I usually don't prefer Korean songs that are translated into English bc you end up with lyrics that don't flow as well with the song, or just sound much cringier than the original. I wonder if the Korean version would've given them more security in the end?

The 2nd interview was sooo awkward at times, poor Mark tried his best to translate but you could tell he doesn't always got the touch for it. Why didn't Jackson help? Or even Bambam?? Props to Jinyoung for getting thru that one question fully in English even tho he hesitated a lot. Bambam has been really great in their US interviews, really good.

These times weren't as energetic as last year's, I wonder why, or does my memory fail me and it just feels like that.

This is such a good message! I'm glad they got to see it.

Like bambam said, they were jetlagged lmao. Also, most (if not all) of the US interviews last year were pre-taped so it cut down a lot of the awkward pauses.

Her voice is beautiful, and so soothing, and the words so lovely. And these interviews seem much less energetic, maybe they need a break.

I think Mark deals a lot with language attrition, especially coming from a non-native English household, so English is kind of not his first language, but is his dominate language. Plus, he's always seemed self-conscious about languages (which I always assumed was related to going to school not fully fluent as a small kid). From what I've seen, he does much better when he's been in the U.S. for a couple days to get his English flow back; you could hear an accent in his Today interview which will be gone in a few days. Jackson seems to deal with it too (based on his Chinese), but he's so much more of an extrovert.

I'm not fluent in any of my second languages, but it kills to me to switch between English and another until I have a few days to really flow. You're at least bilingual, I don't know if it's hard for you.

I can totally get what you mean, I feel the same with the languages I know, esp having to switch suddenly to another after not using it for a while.

So I was expecting the performance to be worse but it wasn't? I do agree that maybe if they had done it in Korean they might have had more confidence and the performance would have been better. Some of them kind of half-assed the choreography too though so it wasn't just vocals that were not at their best.

Still need to watch the Build show but that fan's message was so on point.

The space wasn't either designed for such choreo-centered performance, I wonder if they'd been better off performing one of their B-sides (Page!!) instead, it's not like the audience knows/cares whether this is the title or not lol. The English version was a nice twist but I think it wasn't maybe best for this occasion, I'd favor the sound/hype over the understanding of the lyrics, esp if the converted versions anyways end up with a little generic lyrics.

oh wow, I didn't realize they were on the 4th hour. This is less prestigious than BTS' opening the summer concert series. It's basically the daytime hour, not the morning hour. To bad Kathy Lee has left and it wasn't wine Wednesday. She would have created some kind of chaos, and definitely helped put them at ease. Well, Hoda too, she's fun. Instead they got a (Republican) Presidential daughter and not-Hoda.

That performance, though, they seem like they're so dynamic and good at performing but that song just didn't ... I feel like I watched them counting beats. and the pitchiness! At least the dancing got better at the end, and JB started to look like he showed up.

I love Youngjae.
