Flashback Friday

Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back 9 years to the 1st week of July, 2010. The top three have already been posted before, so we will check out some live stages.

#3 Son Dam Bi “Queen”
This is the last era I remember from her musically, mainly because of the music video lol. She’s been pretty active exclusively as an actress for a while now. Song’s a fun bop! I hated the styling this era, but she looks so good. Ahhh her body and those abs!

#2 MC Mong featuring Mellow “Sick Enough To Die”
This song was part of a compilation album from hip hop producer Kim Gun Woo’s project group “Blue Brand”. He did a few of these albums, they were all pretty successful. If I’m not mistaken, this was the last release from MC Mong before the enlistment scandal. No live performances for this, so here’s an audio video.

#1 Miss A “Bad Girl Good Girl”
Third time posting, so I wanted a more recent stage. Here’s the ladies doing the song in 2014 at a show in Beijing. Their whole debut era was so good and holds up even now. I still love that sassy choreography so damn much lol.

Honorable Mentions

#9 Narsha “Bbi Ri Bba Bba”
American Horror Story who? It’s a little creepy and I like it. This was one of the singles from her solo album, and is her most successful solo song. Serving so many looks, it’s hard to pick which one I like the most, but I’m especially digging the ones with the red hair.

#10 Sistar “Push Push”

This was the debut single and omg I can’t believe how much I remember of this even though feels like so long ago lol. I loved their whole debut album so much. This MV always made me laugh because the boys working in the diner looked so little. The girls were still in their teens and looked young too, but the boys really looked like they were in middle school lol. I just realized that Miss A and Sistar debuted at the same time and that blows my mind.

I mean, let's just get INTO push push -

THE HOPPING BODY ROLLS WHILE SINGING
The split from the intro!!!

THIS PRACTICE ROOM
Hyolyn's HEAVY AF bangs!

LIKE, ICONIC?!

I still find it amazing that they could do all those moves in sky high heels. They had to be fit physically to crouch and then get up like that and of course do the split
pikapika217 6th-Jul-2019 04:06 am (UTC)
like they were doing that for *every* performance and that was a DEBUT!

queens, bless them
lizanka23 6th-Jul-2019 04:13 am (UTC)
Seriously! I wanna see someone’s fave k-pop boy try to do this choreo and not topple over. True queens and always doing it with enthusiasm too

Holy crap. What is with them and SNSD having the hardest choreo of their careers for their debut??? I didn't think of them as a dancing group before seeing this and I've watched a lot of their live perfs from later in their career

it's an extremely common girl group trope - complex choreo for debut and it becoming less so as time goes on. see also: AOA -

Semi-related but this doesn't bother me as much as other gg stans because I prefer well-executed, synchronized simple choreo to super complex stuff that not every member can execute properly. RV is a good example, most of their choreo is way too difficult for anyone but Seulgi and they all look sweaty and exhausted after every stage. Whereas others Gfriend can pull it off no problem.

I do want to see girls challenged from time to time, but I can't imagine doing a whole concert of nothing but difficult choreo, it has to be exhausting and increase the risk of injury. Still, doing it for the debut and then not once ever again is weird lol

Ahhhh soo many good songs!!!

I’m here for all the women in this post, these songs ahhh so much nostalgia right now

All of the BEG member solos are so iconic from the visuals to the music. I remember being too annoyed for some reason about how narsha spent too much money on makeup just for some music show performances lol even though looking back on it it’s her money and she can do whatever she wants

Miss a’s choreo has always been great and unique even though i didn’t like their debut song much. I think i started getting into them during Touch promotions. I can still see the appeal since the song is pretty catchy

Son dambi has always had some bops. I prefer saturday night to this one though. I wonder why she’s just sticking to acting now

I remember jamming to push push and enjoying their debut even though it seemed like a lot of people were hating on the song and only got into them during the Alone era. I know that they often use trainees as actors in MVs but did they have to make the girls flirt with guys that look like their younger brothers? It just looks awkward. Also didn’t notice that one creepy shot in the MV of some old guys staring at them until now

Rewatching Push Push’s MV at 27 vs when I watched it when I was 18....this was my eyes basically 😳 like what???
lizanka23 6th-Jul-2019 05:09 pm (UTC)
yeah even some of the camera angles seem sketchy. also it did't help that half of the group were in their 20s already meanwhile half were still teenagers. this is why i don't like when they put underage members with 20 year olds together in a group. it's possible to create a concept that would be age-appropriate but for girl groups companies often fail at this.

I really liked Queen when it came out.

Bbi Ri Bba Bba was good but I liked Fantastic soooo much more and wish that had been the lead single.

Queen was like my guilty pleasure song
I always remember this kid @ 2:34 covering it

Miss a’s Debut was sooo good and jia’s Pink hair was iconic

Considering this was 2010 the Boyfriend members in the Push Push MV probably really were in middle school back then.
dior_chic 6th-Jul-2019 01:17 pm (UTC)
Omg yea rewatching the MV...it’s really fucking weird 😨
reader17 20th-Jul-2019 01:12 am (UTC)
This is my first time watching the video and I recognized some members from Boyfriend immediately. They were so young!Just checked Boyfriends Bio and they debut the next year :)

man, bbi ri bba bba was my jam, my friend and i used to spend our weekends dancing to it

aaah the memories
lil_poisonfrog 6th-Jul-2019 05:59 pm (UTC)
I fell out of Kpop in 2010 so this was my first time watching the Push Push MV and...what a great song??? I seriously like it a lot more than their later stuff. Sure the autotune is dated but it's a total bop. It's honestly wild how girl groups all used to debut with these super high energy songs like this, Fire, Hot Issue, and Ah and perform like veteran idols already. It's so rare today.

Also Hyolyn looks better with bangs sorry.
