The docu-series will be available only on Weverse from August 27.

Well as someone who didn't go to see the film in the cinemas, I'm very excited about this!

The film was great and I say that as someone who is only a passing BTS fan. Very funny and eye opening. Then again, I love behind the scenes music docs...
lightframes 10th-Aug-2019 04:00 pm (UTC)
I really liked it, too! I also like music docs. There was a whole row of girls in front of us that got really excited whenever a song played, but it wasn't annoying, I thought it was cute! Someone brought an ARMY Bomb too, but they kept it turned off until the credits lol

Some parts of the movie were laugh-out-loud funny, like when they were imitating each other's audience interactions lol. I ugly cackled during the bonus footage when Jungkook was like "it's too bright, I can't see" LMAO (and then I had to show my friend the LG commercial) And when they took that shot of alcohol the whole theater laughed for like a minute straight lol.

Seeing how they deal with injuries/illness while on tour was interesting, too - I know we're getting a sanitized version but still. The part when V lost his voice made me kind of stressed??? And when they brought up the Graham Norton performance I realized having to adjust the choreography meant for 7 people to 5 people on such short notice must have been incredibly difficult.

Also they said over and over how tired they were and I was like "they need to get some rest..."

shalottlady07 10th-Aug-2019 05:04 pm (UTC)
Yeah my audience was good too. Some squealing and laughter and singing along, but overall pretty chill!

[Spoiler (click to open)]Yesssss all the footage post-credits was hilarious. What does your banana taste like? Uhhh a banana?? And them imitating j-hope’s introductions had me cackling hard core. Is that how you’re going to introduce yourself to your children?? 😂😂

Yeah I really appreciated them showing all that. When RM was talking about the mental weight Jungkook would feel by not performing and that more or less outweighing any physical pain, I felt terrible. That coupled with how many times we’ve heard idols say “everyone don’t worry I’m fine!” And yet the doctors are practically begging them to go to the hospital. We have no idea what’s really happening.

Maybe it’s terrible to say, but a part of me felt a little jealous. I’ve traveled constantly for work while working 16+ hour days for months on end with little sleep, but had a close neat team. Even though I was exhausted all the time, I never felt alone or unsupported. Now my hours are slightly better, but I don’t have that bond and the stress is so much harder to take alone. I miss having my team, and I envy them having that even if they’re probably sick of each other half the time.

But yes, those boys need to rest for months. Let their bodies heal properly.

// sorry the film provoked a lot of personal feelings for me that I wasn’t expecting.

Every time Jin showed up with the RJ doll the whole theater was like "AWWWWW" lol

I really felt that. They want to perform so badly! I was internally yelling "GO TO THE HOSPITAL"

Don't be sorry! I totally get what you mean! My current job is the first where I've felt my coworkers are my friends, like real friends I can talk to and support and have them support me. That's really important, especially when the job is high-stress or high hours.

I don't want to be condescending - I know they're grown men - but it's hard not to feel like their current schedule isn't sustainable. When they talked about not having time to rest on Chuseok or Christmas it hit kind of hard, like they don't even get holidays. I understand trying to go all out before enlistments start, but I don't think everything will just stop suddenly when they start enlisting - bigger fans probably know better than me what their plans will be, but I assumed the members not in the army would still do solo or unit work.
shalottlady07 10th-Aug-2019 06:12 pm (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]he carried that thing around constantly! It was so cute!

I’m the type of person where I’d regret not performing for years after so I can see where they are coming from. It just sucks so much because it’s very rock-hard place.

That’s great that you feel that way about your current job! I’ve had all my closest friends leave or switch roles.

None of the idols get the holidays if their careers are going well because that’s when all the special events happen. It’s absolutely not sustainable. I took three weeks off in July (first proper break in 21 months) and I was still mentally exhausted. Burn out wears you down and it’s so hard to recover from.

Honestly, with enlistments being so much shorter now (18-19 months??), it might even make sense to just enlist all at the same time. So many American artists take off 3-4 years in between albums. Plus with their level of success, everyone would be counting down the months anyways.

I didn't watch the movie but you guys are talking about interesting stuff! I keep worrying about the loud girls so I never want to go to the cinema, i cant wait for the dvd!
shalottlady07 10th-Aug-2019 08:25 pm (UTC)
Haha yeah totally legitimate reason. I was in a pretty small theater, maybe 35 people?
It’s definitely insightful and worth seeing. Made me reflect on my life way more than I was anticipating though haha
BTW, love your icon. 🥰
gigabytexx 11th-Aug-2019 07:57 pm (UTC)
Yeah i always love seeing that kind of documentary, i just not enjoy the cinema experience. I'm not a fan of watching something in silence and then have some people squealing or worse, kicking my seat from behind hahahahhaha just a pet peeve of mine! Unless the whole movie is a concert DVD, basically like a concert, then it's impossible to stay silent XD

aw yeah i love my icon too 🤗 (and the person in it looll)
shalottlady07 11th-Aug-2019 08:27 pm (UTC)
Ahhhh yesss I hate chair kickers! Thankfully the theater I went to have those recliners so there was a bunch of space between the rows.

Jungkook dragged me into the fandom. I thought he was so cute, like a snarky little brother that I started watching videos of him, and then it went from there. 🙈🙊
lightframes 10th-Aug-2019 08:26 pm (UTC)
It was good, I think you'll like it! (I wouldn't worry about fans being loud, for me it wasn't a problem.)

I will like the movie for sure! But it's already passed anyway so no option other than dvd 😂

I kept trying to gauge the message of the movie. With so many shots of them sleeping, I kept thinking - what are you trying to tell me? That they do get enough rest? Or that they're so sleep deprived that they'll sleep anywhere? I fully believe all idols are sleep-deprived in reality but I couldn't tell which side the movie was on.

Yeah, that's a good point. Chuseok used to be when the athletics events happened and there are always year-end events around Christmas and New Year, so nobody really gets a break. Burnout is a monster. I'm glad you got to take some time off, though.

It would be really interesting to see what happens if they all enlist at the same time, only because I don't think any group has done that before? (Correct me if I'm wrong). Not sure how it would affect their momentum in the U.S. since trends change so quickly here, but the comeback would have so much hype around it.

I'm really interested to know what fans think will happen - enlist one by one? All at once? Units while others are enlisted? Hiatus while others are enlisted?
shalottlady07 10th-Aug-2019 08:34 pm (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]They’re heavily sleep deprived but hey, at least they’re sleep deprived in style on those private jets?? I don’t know. Personally, I thought it leaned towards “they sleep wherever whenever they can but otherwise they’d fall apart”... although that’s a tad dark for a “fun” documentary.

Yeah, thanks, me too! The only reason I got through the spring/early summer was by counting down to my time off hahah

I’ve seen a number of people advocating for everyone enlisting at once, which, yes, to my knowledge, no one has done. Personally, I think it would be a smart move purely for the fact that there’s a five(?) year age gap between Jin and Jungkook. Either all at once, or like in two waves a year apart, so there’s only like six months where no one is active. That’s my take on it.

lightframes 10th-Aug-2019 10:53 pm (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]
Yes, the money was on full display lol when Jimin was at the gym in Balenciaga? I was like "who EXERCISES in Balenciaga" rich people, that's who

I could see two waves working, like you said to minimize the time when no one is active and have the whole group return as soon as possible. I guess we wouldn't be having this conversation if they hadn't all just renewed their contracts for such a long time lol

I wonder if they're going to do a "farewell" style tour before enlistment or just release the next album and tour on it normally. I mean, I guess it would be considered a farewell tour either way.
shalottlady07 10th-Aug-2019 11:21 pm (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]not just Balenciaga, but LONG SLEEVED Balenciaga. I was like “bro that has got to be super hot and uncomfortable. What are you doing??” but you know it was probably a gift from a fan or smthg... unless they just do make that much and he spends it buying that lol

Ooooh they all renewed? I vaguely remember questions about that earlier this year.

I mean farewell implies the end which if BH is smart, it wouldn’t be. But fans can be fickle so who knows... especially if some other group blows up while they’re gone.
lightframes 11th-Aug-2019 01:01 am (UTC)
[Spoiler (click to open)]
I'm gonna assume he bought it lol. When they showed him in that store I was like "oh, he likes clothes!" 😂

Yes, they renewed!

https://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/23103318.html

You're right, for marketing purposes they probably want to stay away from any form of "goodbye." It's more like any media they interact with will be like "so about that whole enlistment thing??? Is the group breaking up???" It seems like fans don't really want to talk about it (even my very, VERY casual fan friend I went to the movie with was like "oh, don't bring that up" :( when I started talking about it after the movie), but idk I think it's better to plan for it. If it's important to see them live before enlistment, start saving up now.
shalottlady07 11th-Aug-2019 01:23 am (UTC)
Ahhh that makes sense. 😂

ooo that was before I jumped back in kpop in Dec/Jan. No wonder I didn’t know.

It’s going to happen. What’s wrong with talking about it??? Like you gotta accept it and be happy that they’ve been successful enough to put out the discography they have. Many groups don’t get that. Plus enlistment isn’t the end... look at Dong Bang as a great example!

Have you seen them live? I think it might be cool, but I saw Stray Kids and even with their audience being so much smaller, the crowd drove me crazy. I think the audience would make it hard for me to enjoy it. //personal preference

Yeah, I get why it might seem daunting if this is someone's first experience with K-pop and they haven't had to deal with this before. But most of the male groups I like have already started enlistment lol. I was almost sure they were going to mention it in the movie, but nope!

I haven't! I'm not looking forward to trying next year lol. Every time they've come to the U.S. for the last few years I've always had some other trip planned or I was saving for a different concert. I have been to SM Town, KCON and Red Velvet solo concert. Big crowds don't bother me so I think I'll be fine, but I really should have had ear plugs for KCON lol. And that wasn't even the loudest concert I've been to!

Big Hit just announced vacation time for them!

Yeah I’m a huge Shawol and 3/4 are serving plus Xiumin and 2pm Junho, so I was like “gotta find others to follow for the next couple years” haha it’s not the end of the world

How was SM Town?? Who did you see?

Yeah I definitely wear earplugs to every concert. I’ve seen SF9 and Stray Kids. SF9 was perfect for me, medium sized crowd that actually listened when they spoke. For Stray Kids, the audience, especially around me in the way back, but screamed constantly and had running commentary when they were speaking. I’d assume BTS would be even worse... plus I’m one of those “enjoy the moment, don’t record every second” kind of people so all the phones kinda make me sad.

YESSSS. Just read the notice. So excited for them. And loved that BH was like “PLEASE do not bother them”. Hopefully people listen.

Hey sorry for jumping in (again, hahah)

If BH is nice I dont think they will make the entire BTS to enlist together, but they might form sub-units to give a chance for individual member to stand out (even after there will be no more BTS in the future). I've read discussion in other posts and i kinda agree that continuous group projects only benefit the company, but not the members themselves.

I personally not a fan of sub-units, i dont think i will like it that much even if my bias is having a solo project, somehow i like them in a group. But they all need to shine individually, so I'm cool with it. In the end I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of members opposing the idea of enlisting together, i can see some of them have their own passion.
That's what I think~
shalottlady07 11th-Aug-2019 08:23 pm (UTC)
Hahaha you’re good! I appreciate the insights. :)

I think it would be beneficial to have some sort of combo in the long run. Group activities that make money to help the company fund their personal activities, whether individual or sub-units. Ultimately, it is a business and money is a critical piece that can’t be ignored. But hopefully, with the success so far, they have more negotiating power.

Finally got a good quiet audience for the movie and they dropped Dutch subtitles on my ass. At least the movie was nice to look at.

Would love to see this docu-series.
