This is super cute and I love the callback to their previous releases. However, I still prefer "Zimzalabim" – mostly because this sounds like it could have been released by any group.

’ mostly because this sounds like it could have been released by any group.’

I completely agree

also, everyone looks like they’re having fun, but Yeri lmaaaaao, sorry if I sound mean, but she looks uninterested in everything Red Velvet released after her first year or so in the group. Pink is definitely Irene’s color, Seulgi looked adorably lost in the rooftop lol, Wendy always have fun with these concepts and Joy looks mature, beautiful and still shines a bright smile even if the concept is cute.
dior_chic 19th-Aug-2019 04:06 pm (UTC)
Nah it’s not mean, it’s true. I’m not her biggest fan in red velvet but I loved her feature with Giant Pink, I think she has a lot of potential when she can do music she actually enjoys

i mean, it's fine. this is clearly following in the tradition of red flavor and power up of targeting the normies™, and i guess it could've been worse? on the first two listens the chorus strikes me as the weakest part of the song, it doesn't rly stick w me at all. my favourite part is the background "umpah pah pah ump pah pah", it's the catchiest element for me while retaining the classic rv quirkiness. it reminds me of the distorted voice in red flavor, which was one of my fav parts of that track as well lol
could've done without the "rap" as well, but hey you can't get
the choreo is cute but very simple and kinda disappointing. i pray for the dumb dumb choreo glory days to return

on a more positive note, i love the styling! esp the 70's-inspired casual clothes they're wearing. the mv is cute and fun, a bit scattered and messy lol (what was the point of the yeehaw outfits?) but better than their other summer mvs. the theatre backdrops reminds me of rbb

I hate when SME forgets their girl groups can dance

esp the 70's-inspired casual clothes

Yeah, that's a style you usually can't go wrong with in my opinion.

You know what? I absolutely love it! The girls look beautiful, I love their make up and just the overall vibe of the song! A great summer bop :)
aleksu7 19th-Aug-2019 04:42 pm (UTC)
Summer bopazo of August? Yes
Not as good as summer bopazo of the century that was red flavor? Also Yes
Did I like zimzalawhatever more? Yepp. Mess RV is the best RV (with some exceptions)

Mess RV is the best RV
LOL same tbh, it's just more interesting to me watching how they can execute their weird (and weirder) style

also I really loved the styling from zzb, wendy's bag/top controversy was confusing to me bc how can it not be fashion when pieces can't get versatile?

I love this song right away from the first listen. I'm so glad the last teaser didn't deceive me 😭

They all look great, the mv is so fun and I usually don't like upbeat songs but this has a really nice funk to it that gets to me. I love all the instrumentals/synths they've used here. The sound is just right up my alley. The verses are quite weak tho imo, especially the rapping(?) part with Yeri, Irene and Joy but even so the arrangement is quite fun and brings variety to the whole song so it's not even a negative for me. The structure of the song kinda reminds me of RBB tbh but I also really liked RBB lmao

But Joy...she's really a real-life goddess huh?? When she does her high note...😭😭😭 SHE'S SO HOT AAAAAAH
lydzi 19th-Aug-2019 04:58 pm (UTC)
I don't like it (every sound feels detached one from another?) but it's ok, I'm still in love with the girls :apo: (JOYYYYYYYYYYY) (#ahem). The vichy dresses are adorable ♥
avrgaesthetics 19th-Aug-2019 05:06 pm (UTC)
i wish it had more of that signature rv quirk. sonically, it's fine. nothing to write home about. it's palatable and easy on the ears. zimzalabim is easily gonna be the song i revisit more. they looked wonderful, the styling this concept was so on point. the choreo looked pretty meh. hopefully the live stages are more interesting. and is it me or has have rv mv after bad boy looked so budget lmao
lizanka23 19th-Aug-2019 05:08 pm (UTC)
The reversal lmao. Last time everyone complained ZZB was a mess but this time it’s too basic. Anyways, I love it! it’s so funky, shows off the girls’ vocals( those layered vocals and harmonies) and that bridge/slow down part sounds so good. They all sounded so good! Also the rap is usually awkward to me but this time it seemed to fit and switch seamlessly between the girls. Not to mention the MV was so fun and colorful. If you judge it by the standards of a summer song I think this is perfect for the summer. Something you can just have fun to and dance without thinking too much and getting overwhelmed by the song structure

Seriously. Omona is wild saying this would be a forgotten track by another group...more like it would a nugu fave that people bring up when talking about underrated gg songs imo

It's fine, but it's not very memorable. It's just nice and safe.

Alright! Just a few listens in and I already like the song! (which it's kinda unusual for me). It's a really cute, feel-good type of song; and, is it generic? yep, does it sound like another gg could release the song? also yep, but let's be honest, overall RV has one of the best vocal abilities out of all the current gg's and "umpah umpah" it's a good example of how their voices make a song sound better and more enjoyable, imo.

Also, I'm loving how much Joy's singing has improved lately! Congrats, girl! ( I was like ":o yasss!" when her highnote came out haha).

They all looked so pretty! The styling it's simple but cute, and after rbb's and zzlb's it's a welcome change for me. I didn't like Irene's bangs in the teasers but here they look better and the woman just looks amazing, joy was shining, she has such a beautiful smile.

omg poor seulgi! aaw, but she has this adorably confused/lost look about her that made her perfect for the role haha. Wendy looks cuter w short hair, idk why the saw the need to give her those horrible extensions :/. Yeri suits blonde hair the best out of them.

I hope they are well rested and the clothes are comfortable for them to be able to do their best while performing!

I immediatly love this - which hasn't happened since Peekaboo lol (everything since had to grow on me). Especially after Rbb and Zzb which were both divisive, it makes sense for them to release something easy on the ears and fun in a simple, safe way. I'm expecting Day3 to go back to crazy experimental lol.
Also while they're taking a classic summer single template, I like the added touches like the weird male vocals (that actually fit the song) and their harmonies (vocals on point here!). Reminds me of Russian Roulette, with little details underneath a straight-forward song

Joy is just so amazing ;_;
Everyone looked great, the styling is much better than Zzb, and Seulgi on the roof was adorable omg. Such a pretty and cute video

You’re amazing and I love your every right and tasteful comment.
broadcities 19th-Aug-2019 06:23 pm (UTC)
the mv is sooo cute and i love their outfits! it's a cute summer song but also kind of generic especially for them :(
annayism 19th-Aug-2019 06:40 pm (UTC)
meh i like their more experimental tracks better. if a mid-tier group put this out it would never gain traction tbh
they look beautiful tho!
pikapika217 19th-Aug-2019 08:04 pm (UTC)
I mean, you could say the same about ZZB only gaining traction for being from them. No one liked Weki Meki's debut song and it was both experimental and put together better
