I know a girl who did this after becoming religious
It's a weird concept to me
hallyujah 7th-Sep-2019 03:38 pm (UTC)
Ya that's super weird. You can just ask for forgiveness from God if you feel guilty and call yourself a born-again virgin. Which I've done after fucking hoes I've met on Grindr lolol

I want to watch this, but at the same time i don't because the concept of virginity is ridiculous and the fact that this guys work is dedicated to this is ughhh
scionofawhisper 7th-Sep-2019 05:32 pm (UTC)
Actually, in the video they said they only performed it once or twice a month so it's not that common, he must do a lot of other stuff mainly.

This is so gross.Gives me flashbacks to my grandmother telling me she didn't bleed her first time and she panicked because she thought her inlaws would throw her out of the house for shaming them so she waited till her husband was asleep and slived up her thigh to bleed on the sheets. Sick that that mindset is still there in a so-called modern nation like Korea
krissasaur 8th-Sep-2019 05:00 am (UTC)
This reminds me of something I saw or read about middle eastern women who were abused by their husbands on their wedding nights for "lying a bout their virginity" because they didn't bleed when they had their honeymoon sex.
scionofawhisper 7th-Sep-2019 05:31 pm (UTC)
What... women do it even if they've given birth? How do they hide the child...

Sucks that women need to do this for self-esteem.

And what's the point of the hymen anyway if it just tears.

I wonder how expensive it is...

It makes me so sad, all the things women do for men. t.t
goshipgurl 7th-Sep-2019 08:40 pm (UTC)
I've read that some doctors here do it as well, prices vary from a couple hundred bucks to over 1-2k.
rosiemotleymind 7th-Sep-2019 05:48 pm (UTC)
Virginity is a sham and only there to trick women into thinking that purity will better their self-worth. It sucks that women think they have to do this or that barely anyone is educated on how their own bodies work.

onlylexy 7th-Sep-2019 06:29 pm (UTC)
You cannot turn a woman back into a vrgin. You can reconstruct the hymen all you want but that does not erase experience. That does not change the fact that these people had sex before. This is silly.
adlyeith 7th-Sep-2019 06:32 pm (UTC)
I want to watch it, because I think it would be interesting from a societal view, but...idk. I suppose I can understand it to a degree (the idea of wanting to have it done), simply because I was raised in a very religious environment surrounded by messages of being abstinent/how bad and immoral thoughts about sex or acts of sex outside of marriage were. If I had had sex while being in that environment, I probably would have been driven to something like this out of shame/guilt.

I hate how this message of pure virginity is still prevalent today and how it's one of the many, many ways society measures a woman's worth.

Edited for spelling.

Fuck this.

To the moon and back.
camouflagecat 7th-Sep-2019 06:44 pm (UTC)
I saw this earlier since I'm subbed to them but I was very uncomfortable and agitated during the whole watch because of how fucked up the whole concept is.
gigabytexx 7th-Sep-2019 06:49 pm (UTC)
(I don't watch the video)
Some people I know who are doing this simply just to make her husband feel happy because she's 'tight' lol and not really the virgin part. Although well, of course some weird men would have some sort of fetish when seeing their women bleed 'again'.

It's super weird.
goshipgurl 7th-Sep-2019 08:52 pm (UTC)
See, that's just another misconception people (mostly men) have about women and their bodies. The vagina is a muscle, it doesn't become loose after you've had sex.
goshipgurl 7th-Sep-2019 08:47 pm (UTC)
I personally think doctors that perform these surgery, despite knowing that the hymen can tear from physical activity, that some girls are born without one, that not all women bleed during their first sex, are not really trustworthy. They support the misogynistic views for the woman's parents or man because they rarely do it for themselves but almost always for someone else. They should help to educate people about this topic instead.

I've heard that you can get it done here in Europe as well because apparently (only read if in news magazines) some muslim familys shame their daughters if they get married and aren't virgin anymore.
jasmineakaiumi 7th-Sep-2019 10:46 pm (UTC)
yeah if it's readily available as a procedure I feel like it would perpetuate it...but I guess one could argue that it's similar to abortion in that legal or not, people WILL get it done, just that the latter means they'll be using more dangerous methods of doing so. I guess the only solution would be to educate people on why the whole concept of virginity is useless and misogynistic🤷🏻‍♀️
coyote_revolver 7th-Sep-2019 10:37 pm (UTC)
Fuck this bullshit.
premonitioner 7th-Sep-2019 10:54 pm (UTC)
men who are possessive and insecure enough to need to marry virgins need to take a long run and jump

I watched the video when it first came out. I think that the doctors who perform it don't believe in it, especially the woman surgeon who tries to find out specific reasons why a patient would get the procedure. But I get it. Some women are killed for not bleeding on their wedding night. I'd rather the procedure not exist at all but if it'll save a woman's life then 🤷‍♀️

This is where I'm at too re: the end if your comment. Like yeah, the problem with women being killed for their non-virginity is a systematic cultural problem existing on a much bigger scale and hard to change... but it doesn't mean tho that we shouldn't try to change it. The fact that these beliefs still exist is sad, and maybe in this case I side-eye countries like SK which also perform the surgery for pleasure reasons for the man and not caring at all what emotional and physical pain the women have to go thru.

There's just so much to unpack here I can't even lol.
ramenhime 7th-Sep-2019 11:17 pm (UTC)
Virginity isn’t real y’all have still had sex it doesn’t change anything lmao
belintuchiha 8th-Sep-2019 12:41 am (UTC)

How about everyone stops having sex and we get rid of the human race for once? Lol
