The Masked Singer UK announces host & panel

Your new favourite reality TV obsession is on the way, with a UK version of international hit The Masked Singer reaching our screens in 2020.

A hybrid of a singing show and a guessing game, the show sees 12 famous faces sing while their identity is elaborately and imaginatively concealed behind a mask, with the mission for viewers being to figure out who the celebrities are.

Guiding audiences through that quest will be an all-star celebrity panel, and ITV has now confirmed the stars sitting on that panel ahead of the show's premiere next year.

Broadcaster Jonathan Ross, TV presenter Davina McCall and Hollywood actor and comedian Ken Jeong will all feature on the UK panel, alongside the previously-rumoured Rita Ora.

Rita previously featured as a judge on The X Factor, while Ken starred on the panel of the US version of The Masked Singer earlier this year.

ITV has also confirmed who'll be hosting its new reality series, naming former I'm A Celebrity star-turned-Singletown host Joel Dommett as the one who'll be helming the show.

"I'm incredibly excited and proud to be hosting The Masked Singer for ITV. I've been a huge fan of the show in the US and being a part of it here is a dream come true!" Joel said in a statement.

"The panel is brilliant and it's an incredible idea – I think the UK is going to love it. In all seriousness this is my best chance to become friends with Jonathan Ross and I'm not going to mess it up."

As for the members of the panel themselves, they're all just as excited to be involved in the series with Jonathan saying: "I loved the American version of the show so can’t wait to try and uncover the mystery UK superstars hiding beneath the masks. It should be great fun!"

"I'm so excited to be part of this incredible panel, bring it on!" Rita added. "I'm a huge fan of The Masked Singer, it's such a fresh and original show. I can't wait for it to come to the UK and to get started – it's going to be so much fun."

Davina also added that she was "so excited", and "can't wait to join Rita, Jonathan and the inimitable Ken on the panel and see just what amazing costumes and performances our celebrities will be bringing to the show".

Meanwhile, Ken can't wait to make the jump over to Australian UK screens either, adding: "As the smartest judge on the US Masked Singer, it is truly an honour and privilege to take my talents to the UK!

"As everyone knows, I am extremely knowledgeable about UK culture, and I can't wait to see my favourite British singers dressed in beautiful costumes based on their native kangaroos and dingos."

While they won't be judged on their actual singing, each masked celebrity will need to give their best performance to avoid being eliminated and having their identity revealed, with one singer being booted off the show each week.

The Masked Singer will premiere on ITV in 2020.
