EXO to perform in Saudi Arabia for upcoming Riyadh season?

source: LovinSaudi_En

Appearantly Riyadh season is a huge government sponsored event...

EDIT: they deleted the tweet and said they are still waiting for confirmation:https://twitter.com/LovinSaudi/status/1172471777676726273?s=19

Now that idols can't really promote in China and Japan anymore SM has to find new ways to earn money

Source page doesn't exist?

Seems like they deleted the tweet 🤔 maybe its not confirmed yet? Hoping so!
vintage_boom 13th-Sep-2019 01:24 pm (UTC)
wouldn't be surprised tbh not the first SM artist to perform there this year :/
nekobot 13th-Sep-2019 01:34 pm (UTC)
It almost makes me glad f(x) ended before they could get tainted by being put up to perform there
vintage_boom 13th-Sep-2019 01:43 pm (UTC)
lol they're probably glad too
nekobot 13th-Sep-2019 01:33 pm (UTC)
Not surprised -at all-. I know that out of all artists the K-pop ones don't have much of a chance to refuse, but fuck SA, fuck Korea for forming an alliance with them and fuck everyone taking blood money to perform there and help rebrand the government.

You said it all.

God I really fucking hope this doesn't happen.I'll take EXO locked in a basement over EXO performing in Saudi Arabia. But I won't get my hopes up, SM already sent SuJu there this year because they're money hungry vultures.
nekobot 13th-Sep-2019 02:50 pm (UTC)
They've seen how incredibly effective mobilising K-pop fans against any critique and using them to promote a positive image of SA is so it looks like it's only going to get worse from now on. They're the perfect propaganda tool because they can silence and threaten people with such intensity and ease that they might as well be little digital Saudi princes.

i'm repeating myself
but hypocritical wokeness is not funny -_____________-

I desperately hope it's fake (and I have some small hope, especially since the date for Post Malone's performance was the exact same day his performance at Oakland is; he can't be at two places at the same time).

Overall, I'm mentally exhausted over BTS' concert at SA and all the idiots in the fandom trying to justify it. Imagine placing a fucking concert over human rights. These people literally indirectly support a genocidal regime wtf. When I thought some ARMYs couldn't hit more rock bottom...

Fuck politics and the bastards who care more for money than morals. I'm so disgusted and it's sad that I'm not one bit surprised that some people prefer filling their pockets to trying to stop and/or speak against the injustice towards other humans.
rainstormraider 13th-Sep-2019 06:19 pm (UTC)
What do you mean indirectly? They are wiping out Yemen as we speak.

the3rdjester 13th-Sep-2019 06:29 pm (UTC)
I mean the fandom supporting this concert and attacking/trying to silence anyone who's against it(calling them racists/islamophobes/hates) means they indirectly support all the crimes SA has and continues to commit, and especially since BTS' concert (which is part of SA' whitewashing-their-crimes plan) will raise money that'll go directly into the SA government's pockets and help them terrorize Yemen even more (not that they aren't already filthy rich).

Ah I thought you were talking about KSA. Because they ain't shit.

I hope it’s fake too. The amount of mental gymnastics people where doing to justify this was.....jarring, to say the least.

I didn't see the general reaction of EXO-Ls before the tweet was proved fake, just that of some Saudi ones, who were excited. I hope, if it's revealed EXO are gonna perform in SA (fingers crossed they aren't), the majority of EXO-Ls are smarter than many ARMYs and speak against it.

The fact that some ARMYs got excited that EXO were in that line-up, said 'karma is an army' and dragged EXO-Ls for pointing out the hypocrisy in BTS' concert in SA, and EXO for 'performing' for the government (WHILE DENYING BTS' CONCERT IS ALSO SPONSORED BY THE GOVERNMENT) is un-fucking-believable and makes me wanna knock some sense into them. Some fans are truly idiots and/or ignorant af. Congrats to the SA prince for finding this fandom that consist of many and loud sheep to work for him in promoting positive things for SA and silencing anyone who's against it.

Yeah I definitely agree with you on the armys. it even seeped over to omona. I’m not active on exo-l social media anymore so i cant speak on that, but the hypocrisy from ARMY’s who posted that shit was so fucking annoying. I can’t imagine being so nasty to other groups or fan bases. I roll my eyes every time I see ‘karma is an army’ LOL it’s so childish
the3rdjester 15th-Sep-2019 07:43 pm (UTC)
I can’t imagine being so nasty to other groups or fan bases

Like, the whole 'ARMYs will never forget what kpoppies did to BTS back in the day' is fucking ridiculous. It's one thing to reasonably shut down haters of BTS, but to start drama and drag down other groups unprovoked, while being a huge-ass hypocrite by saying 'ARMYs are Innocent'/'the whole world is against us and BTS'/etc, is so childish and definitely doesn't make them look any better. What's also infuriating is the attacks towards the groups and not fandoms themselves. Ffs, @ all fandom tbh, drag the fandom who started shit, not the group that has nothing to do with how their fans act.

Going back to the SA situation. I really can't understand why some ARMYs are so adamant to defend this concert, even when they are presented with legit facts why the concert is a terrible thing. Do they seriously lack morals and empathy? Are they afraid to admit that BigHit isn't the ~*perfect*~ company they keep preaching it is? They say they love BTS and they care about their image, but can't they get through their thick skulls that this concert will get the boys dragged by media and people, and paint them as hypocrites and sell-outs? BTS are fucking UN ambassadors and collaborate with UNICEF, with which they have gathered money to help Yemen, the very same country bombed by the one their concert is held at. Their messages are 'Love Yourself' and 'Speak Yourself', yet they are performing in a country that these things get you killed! These fans can't lack so many braincells jfc!!

Honestly though, since this concert is most likely because of the agreement between S.Korea and SA, I don't know if it can get canceled. Hell, I don't even know if BigHit had the choice of denying the concert or they just don't care for anything else besides money, even if it's blood money. I don't think the boys are happy with this or at least I hope so. If that decision was completely out of their hands, then I pity them for being used as pawns in a political game, which I seriously hope EXO and more kpop groups won't become a part of.

BTS concert is the opening of this big music fest. My friends company is a partner of one of the event organizer. They have 1 billion USD as budget for it. But I'm not sure about the artists that they've invited aside from BTS.

Hnnng the hypocrisy and double standards in this post I am tired.
