I follow the show coz (G)IDLE is here and enjoying all the performances =) On this episode, (G)IDLE could've done something more knowing their capabilities but it's ok with me since Bom is happy with their stage =) I can't even remember when was the last time "Fire" was covered by any group.

BTW, I read that all songs will be available on Melon except for "Fire" due to copyright issue =(

ooo the unit competition seems exciting, here for more inter-group interactions. probably also explains Bom's post!

I'm really glad that OMG's efforts have paid off and everyone acknowledges that their performance was great, and also AOA which most seemed to be proud of. g-idle kind of rubbed me the wrong way this time with the "ethnic" performance part, and having bindi, war cry and all didn't help. it also felt like they were pretty competitive and the desire to win felt strong here. but it could be also due to MNET's evil editing that kinda made it worse, and probably ignorance playing a part here too.
lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 03:03 pm (UTC)
Call me crazy but I don't think Mnet's editing has been evil at all. I didn't follow Produce but watching this show makes me think a lot of ppl's complaints over it were exaggerated lol. I'm sure the producers have shuffled around reaction shots and such but no one has been portrayed unfairly imo. The slightly shady moments are good television tbh and evenly distributed among the groups.
azoarka 21st-Sep-2019 08:05 pm (UTC)
The editing for this show is a lot better than for Produce. For Produce, the trainees have a lot less power + fans than the groups on Queendom so Mnet editors have to be more careful on Queendom (not to mention they don't have the agenda of pushing for certain trainees to rank high to motivate evil editing on Queendom).
lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 08:58 pm (UTC)
Ah that's true I didn't think about how powerless the trainees are. Mnet for sure had deals with the larger companies to get their kids in the final line up.

I like OMG’s concept and the visual with the huge moon behind them is SO GORGEOUS. But the song arrangement makes it feels choppy i feel like. The rap and yooa’s part break up the song. But still really good.

Gidle definitely shown that they only have few strong members, for this concept i think. Which is very similar to theirs. Lol bit i just feel like 2ne1 members went harder. Does shuhua is just hopeless vocal wise? I just noticed last ep she barely sang, and in this ep too

Lovelyz. Theres definitely members who dont fit the concept like kei and maknae. And baby soul never have stage presence i feel like. But the teat are pretty good. Mijoo and surprisingly jisu fit really well. I really like jisu here in fact. And lol Bom is still the most boring i feel like. Esp bc i dont know the song. And she counts on other people to give her extra points so yeah... also theyre not gonna make lovelyz be the last AGAIN lbr

I like how mamamoo and bom sang together through the walls lol

Lol at gidle choosing AOA as below them. Next week looks like it’d be fun

I like some of OMG's songs but wouldn't call myself a fan, but this round they were absolutely my #1 pick THEY WERE SO GOOOOOOD ;_; the outfits and choreo and backdrop were so beautiful and Mimi's rap and Yooa's bridge were great.

I'm a sucker for uniforms so I kinda enjoyed Lovelyz's perf just for that, though I felt only Sujeong, Jisoo and Mijoo suited the concept..

apart from the ethnic stuff (and the war cry) that's been mentioned, (G)-IDLE did the best they could with such an iconic song... Miyeon's voice went really well with the song for some reason? kinda want to see them do a 180 and show a completely different concept though, everyone else has shown some versatility by now.

excited for next week's ep, gg friendships!! units!! more of this and less manufactured self-evaluation (it should be called peer evaluation, this bugs me a lot) drama!!!
froggster 20th-Sep-2019 07:18 pm (UTC)
People were going WILD for lovelyz, but I didn't see it. 70% of the members do not fit the concept and the recording of the song was sub-par. That Pop Pop from the chorus had NO power. It was too high and had zero grit. Too bad, I was rooting for them to do better after last week.
OMG was great. wish Yooa sat out the entire performance tbh, because that cut to her added nothing.
No idea what gidle was sniffing to choose aoa as lesser than them this round. HOW.
AOA are still my winners of this round.
lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 03:13 pm (UTC)
Yeah the vocals were def the worst part of Lovelyz' stage. The reaction shots made the one girl's high note seem impressive but all I heard was screechy wailing lol. If G-idle's perf hadn't been so damn insensitive I would rank them last this week for that alone.

Idk most of the Korean comments I saw were about Lovelyz perf being lackluster, they were trending cause of the comparison to the original which Koreans talked about a lot.
azoarka 20th-Sep-2019 11:00 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I spoke too fast. I only glanced at the trending topic on twitter/naver and assumed it was because of a good perf like the way Oh My Girl was trending before that but then I actually looked at the comments about Lovelyz and wow ppl hated it lol.
yesungholic 20th-Sep-2019 10:22 pm (UTC)
I have a soft spot for Lovelyz, mainly for Baby Soul, but I was not feeling this performance at all. They don't have the charisma to pull off BEG (and to be honest, I think only one or two groups can actually do it in a way that doesn't scream try hard). While the groups tried to make the song theirs... Idk, it seemed more of a normal cover and that's it.

OMG and AoA totally did won my heart and I can't wait for more. They are the only groups I'm rooting for xD and I do not know the girls at all
lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 03:16 pm (UTC)
Some ppl seem to think BEG were only known for their sexy/mature concepts but like...their singing and rapping is well above average too. I wouldn't feel confident covering one of their songs unless there were multiple strong vocalists in my group.

And same re AOA and OMG
yesungholic 21st-Sep-2019 08:30 pm (UTC)
BEG is so much more than their sexiness. Sure, they can be sexy AF, but their confidence on stage, the charisma their power vocals and their amazing rap is something that can't be easily covered. To be such a complete group and not even look like they are trying that hard, is not easy, but BEG always did it with elegance and class. I personally don't think any of the groups here can actually cover beg and do them justice

AOA and OMG for this round, everyone else can go home
aleksu7 21st-Sep-2019 12:04 pm (UTC)
Pretty much this yep.

I didn't think I was going to like this show as much as I do and was just going to watch performance cuts but oops at me binging it all lol. I love how AOA and OMG are basically carrying this show variety-wise, Hyejeong, Jimin, Hyojung, and Seunghee in particular.

Seolhyun's comment from the first episode about how it's only popular boy groups who get special comeback shows is still stuck with me. Go off queen. I also love how she went from calmly saying it's alright for (G)i-dle to have their (wrong) opinion to suddenly saying so we didn't meet your expectations jskjksjks

I didn't really know anything about OMG before this show and their group dynamics and synergy really shined through. I love how many little inside jokes and moments they have.

I really want to love (g)i-dle and shuhua seems hilarious but there are just so many ngl moments with the cultural vulture stuff :/
lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 03:18 pm (UTC)
Seolhyun has been a lowkey shady queen and I'm loving it 😂 And yeah she specifically said "privileged boy groups" which is so pointed and correct

lil_poisonfrog 21st-Sep-2019 03:55 pm (UTC)
I missed the earlier posts bc I've been busy and just caught up on eps now but...I'm LOVING this show!!! The quality of performances has been so high overall, I'm seriously impressed. And I'm so happy that AOA and OMG getting the shine they deserve...idk if Mnet intended it, but attracting an audience to the show with more popular groups like MMM and G-idle so they can be gagged by the underrated gems is a genius move lol.

To my untrained eye the production value is also great. I like the hosts and the castle-shaped set where the groups all sit together is so pretty and elegant. We're also getting so many cute interactions between the girls! Bom has been so sweet to everyone and Moonbyul complementing AOA with the sketchbook was cute. AOA's group dynamic overall warms my heart lol, you can tell they share a deep friendship 😢

I'm also feeling smug as hell over the K-pop fandom's moral panic over this show before it aired. Even here ppl were so negative about it for no reason and now everyone is watching and anticipating each performance lmao

My ranking for this round:

1) AOA
2) OMG
3) Bom
4) MMM
5) Lovelyz
6) G-idle

I get why ppl can be disappointed with Bom's performing sometimes, but she really challenged herself this ep and mostly pulled it off imo. The arrangement was great and I think Cheetah was a nice addition rather than her attempting to rap.

MMM tried to do way too much this round imo. The Decalcomie perf last week was standard for them (in fact I swear they did something similar at an awards show in 2016) so I think they ended up overcompensating.

my ranking is the same! i was so impressed with AOA and OMG, i'm so happy OMG did so much better than last time! their concept was so unique and it suited them, the break to yooa was unnecessary but otherwise, i loved it

i agree with you on MMM, i felt exactly the same. the first one was too basic, the second one wayyyy too much, like what they lacked the first performance they tried to put into the second one. though i liked the idea, i think it would've been enough to do 2 genres and combine them into 1 song (for example, i quite enjoyed hwasa and wheein's versions, they could've made that work somehow with maybe pairs or just the 4 of them
hopefully next time will be better
thomaswilmoore 21st-Sep-2019 05:32 pm (UTC)
man i love watching this show, seeing every group coming together and creating concepts and putting their spins on songs (it's not even over yet and i'm already wanting a second season)

that being said, idle say they wanted "ethnic hip" was so cringey
and the "war cry" ugh
i kinda liked the performance when i saw it before seeing their briefing but it was a no-no from me

i wanna hug bom forever, she misses 2NE1 just as much as we do
makes me wonder if they can talk about getting together some time in the future after seeing bom so emotional about her group days

i kinda feel sorry for lovelyz because even though i don't like their songs, i don't want them to get eliminated
their performance was cool but it felt more like a year end special or something like that, not something i'd expect to see on queendom

i also agree with most of the people here: AOA and OMG are the best
