Flashback Friday

Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back to the 2nd week of December, 2012. I don’t remember any of these songs, 2012 was a sketchy year for me in Kpop lol. So, because I don’t remember anything, instead of my usual drone commentary you’re going to get my Christmas wishlist instead. Back to the nonsense babble next week, I swear...

#3 Kim Bum Soo & Lena Park “White Winter”

Two of Korea’s favorite vocalists collaborated on this holiday song. One of my all time fav duos are Jang Nara and Jang Hyuk from the drama Fated To Love You. Which is why the The Fated To Love You director’s cut DVD box set is on my Xmas list. I waited too long when it was came out in 2014, and it was a limited release, but I’m still on the lookout. I love Jang Nara so much. I tried watching VIP for her, but Lee Sang Yoon makes me so mad lol. I’ll start watching foreals foreals if it turns into a revenge drama. I love a good revenge drama.

#2 Lee Seung Gi “Return”
This was the single off of his “Forest” EP, and would set a new record for the most weeks at #1. #1 in my heart this holiday season are cozy socks. Those damn fluffy socks that are in every store by early November. Want them all. Need them all. My feet aren’t even cold, but I can’t sleep without them anymore. Is this what getting old feels like? The need to be warm and cozy 24/7?

#1 Jellyfish Christmas Heart Project “Because It’s Christmas”
One of Jellyfish Entertainment’s annual Christmas releases, this was the company’s 2012 offering. This year features the vocals of Sung Sikyung, Park Hyoshin, Lee Seok Hoon, Seo In Guk, and VIXX. I gasped when I saw Seo In Guk, I feel like I haven’t seen him in a long time. I haven’t had a holiday cookie tower in a long time either. I have a family member who is an amazing baker and she would make everyone personal cookie/candy towers for Christmas. But a feud split the family and I really miss those rose and pistachio shortbread cookies.

Honorable Mentions

#7 Secret “Talk That”
This song was the group’s follow up to “Poison”. Apparently it’s the group’s first digital single since their debut “I Want You Back” (my personal all-time favorite Secret song). Something that I always come back to every year are Hickory Farms condiments. Every holiday season I haul my ass to the mall and straight to the Hickory Farms kiosk to buy a years’ worth of mustard. I wish that didn’t sound so lame, but it’s the truth. You will have to pry that honey pineapple mustard out of my cold, dead hands.

#8 Nell “White Night”
It seems like a lot of the Christmas songs in Korea have the word “white” in the title, so I thought it was Christmas song too. But nope! Nothing to do with snow or Christmas at all, I was mistaken. Another thing that messes with my mind is my 10 quart crock pot. My problem with it is that I feel the need to always fill it up completely. It never occurs to me that I live alone and should only make a few servings. I always end up with too much soup. I…I can never eat all the soup. I need a smaller crock pot.
