Flashback Friday

Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 4 years to the 2nd week of April, 2016. There’s a lot of mingling going around with the artists this week…well just Eric Nam really lol. I don’t remember much from these songs, maybe you remember more. Stay safe, everybody!

#3 Red Velvet “One Of These Nights”
This was the lead single off of the group’s EP “The Velvet”, showcasing the group’s more smooth and soft and velvety concept, following their “The Red” album a few months prior. I don’t remember this song at all, but I think I do remember parts of the music video. I still really like the MV now. The song would peak in the top ten, and would take a win on every music show.

#2 Eric Nam “Good For You”
This was the first single off of his “Interview” album, his first album since his debut back in 2013. He worked on both lyrics and composition, and it would be his biggest selling song. It followed an SM Station release, just a weeks earlier, of a song with Red Velvet’s Wendy called “Spring Love”. That would be a huge hit, and would also be one of SM Station’s biggest sellers. Good month for him.

#1 Mamamoo “You’re The Best”
Probably the group’s big breakout hit, although I think I personally remember the styling more than the song itself lol. The retro looks were cute. Anywho, this was the song that would give them their first #1, and their first music show wins. Solar and Eric Nam would make their first appearance on We Got Married this month too.

Honorable Mentions

#4 Lee Hi “Breathe”
This was the first single off of her “Seoulite” album, her first album since her debut in 2013, just like Eric Nam (I’m gonna find a way to inject him into everything this week lol). She would make this comeback under HIGHGRND, and the album was produced by Tablo, Tukutz, and herself. Shinee’s Jonghyun composed the song, and would be the highest charting song on the album. In December 2017, the song would reappear on the charts.

#5 Got7 “Fly”
This was the lead single from the groups “Flight Log: Departure” EP, the first in their “Flight Log” series (was it a series? how many make up a series?). They would start their first world tour “Fly” this month. Both the song and the album would hit the top ten. Also, the group would promote the song on After School Club, hosted by Eric Nam (yeah I know that was an easy one, but I made a connection with everyone and that was the goal lol).
