And it's up to us to find those hidden gems, that might otherwise be burried under countless songs.
Every month I'll try to look back on girl group and female soloist release (I don't have time to waste on boys) and try to find out the song that should have been "IT" but was overlooked.
What's my expertise on this?
It's just fun & games but to paraphrase the great Eugene Lee Yang
"I'm right, you're wrong,
shut up, discuss in the comments".
I don't have much to complain about. But let's see what we may have missed this past month.
Fanatic - Plus Two
Title track: "V.A.V.I girl"
It should have been: another album entirely
The mini is pretty bleak and there's nothing to notice outside the title track.
And even "V.A.V.I girl" isn't doing much. It's noticeable for all the wrong reasons: messy, noisy, patchwork mess.
With songs like that I'm not sure Fanatics can amount to much...
BVNDIT - Carnival
Title track: "Jungle"
It could have been: "Come and get it"
"Jungle can feel like idle and KARD had a child... a few years ago. I don't mind it, I do like this type of song (I'm basic like that). But *dramatic pause*, if I had been the one deciding on the title track, I would have gone with "Come and get it"; if only because it has an old school Xtina vibe to it (I'm old on top of being basic).
Although, considering how popular Idle is right now, I understand why they went with "Jungle".
Sole - haPPiness
Title track: "HaPPiness"
It could have been: "Talk"
Honestly this is just an excuse to make you listen to the second track of her single. It's softer and more laid back than "HaPPiness" but just as good.
BOL4 - Puberty BookⅡ Pum
Title track: "Hug" & "Leo"
It could have been: "Blank
"Blank" is such a happy pre-summer song. It's the type of song that'll make you wake up with a smile on your face.
The whole mini is filled with feel good songs that will lift your spirit... a ray of sunshine.
Secret Number - Who Dis?
Title track: "Who Dis?"
It could have been: Holiday
I get why "Who dis" is the title track, I get it, labels want song that are "exciting". But Holiday is just better. It just is.
Ryu Su Jeong - Tiger eyes
Title track: "Tiger eyes"
It should have been: "TIGGER EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
But go ahead and give some love to "CALL ABCK".
Busters - Paeonia
Title Track: "Paeonia"
It should have been: Peonia is the right choice
Not that "Cherry blossom" isn't good, they're just interchangeable imo
Cheeze - I Can't Tell You Everything
Title track: "That's ok" & "Today's Mood"
It could have been: "Watercolour"
For me, Cheeze (which is no longer a duo but just Dalchon) falls in the same delightful category as Stella Jang.
There's a definite Maaya Sakamoto vibe to her work: "Today's Mood" being a perfect example of that.
Woo!ah! - Exclamation
Title track: "Woo!ah!"
It could have been: "Payday"
I'm not mad at "Woo!ah", it's disjointed for sure but I like the pika pika
"Payday" is more cohesive though, and maybe more accessible for the general audience.
OP's note: Check out Cheeze and thank me later
Did I forget anyone?
