Im Seulong forwarded to Prosecution for recent car accident

On August 28, the Seoul Seobu Police Station revealed that Im Seulong had been forwarded to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on the charge of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. The police stated, “We cannot reveal the specific details of the case, but it has been acknowledged that Im Seulong is partially liable.”

Earlier this month, Im Seulong was involved in a car accident. According to the Seoul Seobu Police Station, Im Seulong was driving his SUV on a road in Eunpyeong, Seoul at 11:50 p.m. KST as it was raining, when he struck a man who was crossing the road even though the pedestrian signal light was red. The man was taken to the hospital but passed away shortly from his injuries.

Im Seulong was immediately investigated for potential violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. After he was questioned, the Seoul Seobu Police Station revealed that he had not been driving under the influence.

Following the accident, Im Seulong’s agency Jellyfish Entertainment also released an official statement, apologizing and sharing their deep condolences to the family of the victim.

After the initial investigation, the police secured footage from nearby CCTV cameras and the car’s black box to continue investigating the case in detail. They checked the conditions at the time, taking a closer look at the pedestrian’s liability and considering the possibility of careless driving. The CCTV footage of the accident was also revealed publicly, showing Im Seulong’s white SUV crashing into a pedestrian with an umbrella two seconds after he entered the crosswalk at a red light.

On August 25, the police privately summoned Im Seulong for additional questioning.
