In February of this year, it was reported that The Rose sent a certification of contents requesting for the termination of their contract with J & STAR Company. The group listed allegations including the agency’s enforcement of an unreasonable schedule and problems surrounding their payments. The agency refuted the band’s claims in a statement and said it would take legal action.
In March, The Rose released a statement explaining their stance on their contract termination request with evidence of their claims, and the agency then refuted these claims with a statement of their own. On August 24, the band released the song “Black Rose.”
On August 31, J & STAR Company stated, “In March of this year, The Rose submitted a request for contract termination, citing reasons including outstanding payments, damage of trust, and exclusive contract violations. However, the court has denied this request.”
The agency added, “Arbitration is currently underway through the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. We are attempting to resolve the matter in an amicable way.”
