And it's up to us to find those hidden gems, that might otherwise be burried under countless songs.
Every month I'll try to look back on girl group and female soloist release (I don't have time to waste on boys) and try to find out the song that should have been "IT" but was overlooked.
What's my expertise on this?
It's just fun & games but to paraphrase the great Eugene Lee Yang
"I'm right, you're wrong,
shut up, discuss in the comments".
A bit earlier than usual but I dont think any female soloist or GG is left for the month so here we go
Lovelyz - Unforgettable
Title track: "Obliviate"
It should have been: "Obliviate"
Such an unfortunate name for this release considering the content of the album.
No song can compete with "Obliviate" for the title track, they're all b-sides. "Memories" is nice, but it's just that, nice. It lacks in the "memorable" area.
YooA - Bon Voyage
Title track: "Bon voyage"
It should have been: "Driver"
Were they playing "how to pick the weakest track"?
I gotta say I was quite surprised when YooA solo was announced. She's not a great singer, but she's a good dancer... yet "Bon voyage" does nothing to showcase her strength, and just draaaaags with a non chorus.
"Driver" on the other hand had great potential to show her dancing ability. It's also a very fun and upbeat song with a retro element (that's very "in" right now). She also sounds a lot (A LOT!) better in "Driver". Truly a missed opportunity.
"Abracadabra" is also a strong contender.
Fromis_9 - My little Society
Title track: "Feel Good"
It shoudl have been: "Feel Good"
Like I said in the MV post, I enjoy "Feel Good", but it sounds like a pre-release to me. It's still a pretty solid track, fun, upbeat and the chorus is memorable (also it exists!).
However, despite lacking that extra "oumph", "Feel good" is still the best track.
Fromm - Cellophane
Title track: "Alien" + "Sunset panorama"
It should have been: "Rescue me"
I love the whole album. It's everything I need from an indie artist. If I could make you listen to her whole discography I would; sadly I don't have that power.
But please do listen to "Rescue me".
Everglow - -77.82x-78.29
Title track: "LA DI DA"
It could have been: "Untouchable"
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE "LA DI DI", but I just find "Untouchable" a bit more cohesive. It might not be as "attention grabbing" or as distinctive as "LA DI DA" but it's certainly not a track you can ignore.
Cignature - Listen & Speak
Title track: "NNNN" + "Assa" + "Arisong"
It should have been: "DALDALHAE"
Disclaimer: I know I'm not the target audience here BUT
In term of title track, "Assa">"NNNN">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Again, I'm not the target audience for this group, and I know I'm old, but my hearing is still A+. I can thus make the distinction between music and noise used to torture enemy soldier. "Arisong" falls in the second category.
I would have promoted "DALDALHAE" as the third title track.
@mods, please pin the post a little if possible.
