#3 Kara “Damaged Lady”
The group spent most of 2013 with activities in Japan before coming back to Korea in the fall. This is the lead single from their “Full Bloom” album, the last Korean release with Nicole and Jiyoung. The other members had signed a 2 year contract renewal around this time. I thought that I didn’t remember this era at all, but looking at the live stages I do remember some of the choreography. Here’s their comeback stage at Inkigayo, they all look so fab!
#2 G-Dragon “Crooked”
Not my favorite solo of his, but I also never skip it when it comes on shuffle lol. I love the lyrics. This was his biggest seller on his “Coup d’Etat” album. Here’s his first tv performance of the song. It always makes me laugh because it’s on Sketchbook. Like I’m guessing a lot of these people were expecting a regular mellow Sketchbook show, but instead they’re jumping around looking at dragon ball tattoos and nipples lol.
#1 Soyou & Mad Clown “Stupid In Love”
This song was released to celebrate Mad Clown’s signing onto Starship Entertainment. It would be the first of many collaborations he had with Starship artists during his time there. The song was his first to hit the top spot on the charts, and is still his biggest selling single. Soyou, is no stranger to Starship collabs either. She would average at least two of them a year.
#4 Ladies’ Code ‘“Pretty Pretty”
This is a single from the group’s “Code #02 Pretty Pretty” EP, and was the follow up to the pre-release “Hate You” single. It is the group’s bestselling single. I remember song mostly because of the “Yeppeo Yeppeo!” shouts in the chorus. I love it when there is fan chants already in a song lol! I remember this era pretty clearly, they’re so cute! Here’s their comeback stage on M Countdown.
#8 Sunmi “24 Hours”
In 2013 made her return to music after a 3 year hiatus, and this was Sunmi’s solo debut song. It would peak at #2. JYP wrote and produced the song, as well as overseeing the MV, styling, and choreography. Apparently he hadn’t been so involved in a song that much since Park Jiyoon’s “Coming Of Age Ceremony”, 13 years earlier. Here is her debut solo stage on M Countdown.
