S. Korean trot singer-songwriter Kwon Do-woon has come out as gay.

"I am coming out as the first gay trot singer. I wanted speak out for the human rights of sexual minorities and play a role in opening the horizon for others in entertainment to come out." https://t.co/1Rk8gODO5U
Kwon Do-woon told OSEN that Hong Seok-cheon was his inspiration. Also that he "has nothing to lose" and that "as people say, it's better to get the worst out of the way first, so I thought it would be appropriate to do it [come out] now."https://t.co/SCI44s1tYC

While Kwon is clearly not the *only* Korean personality or singer to be gay, he definitely is one of the only few to come out *and* want to speak out for rights.

It's really brave of Kwon Do-woon to come out especially in the largely homophobic country that is S. Korea.

But no offence, he's not that famous and probably no one knew of him until today. Yet media are all over it. Encouraging, but sad reality about how 'abnormal' it is here. https://t.co/BFHlPuHqUE pic.twitter.com/QmghpUgA4R
