Flashback Friday

Happy Friday! I ran some errands this morning and it totally triggered my allergies, so boooo! I hope your day is better. Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 3rd week in October, 2008. Legendary songs this week! Muscle memory still has me doing the dances 12 years later lol!

#3 Wonder Girls “Nobody”
THAT Wonder Girls song. What more can we say about this iconic song? This was the follow up to “So Hot”, and helped make 2008 a big breakout year for them. This song would give them a bunch of awards at the year end shows, including a SOTY Daesang at MKMF. Here’s their stage at MKMF, with a remix of the song and an appearance from another group on the charts this week.

#2 Brown Eyed Girls “How Come”
This is the lead single from the group’s second mini, “My Style”. I didn’t recognize the song by the title, and then 25 seconds in I’m like “awww shit I remember this song!” lol. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the MV before, but I remember everything else though. They look so little! I know I had one of those tiny tiara hair thingies that Jea is wearing too…brb going to find it.

#1 DBSK “Mirotic”

After spending most of 2008 with activities in Japan, the group came back to Korea and released the album “Mirotic” in September. Again, what more can we say about this song?!? One of the group’s (and K-Pop’s tbh) most iconic songs. Third time posting, so this time let’s check out the song at SBS Gayo, with that infamous ending lol.

Honorable Mentions

#4 2PM “10 Out Of 10”

This was their debut song, and omg I can’t believe this was 12 years ago because I remember it so clearly! I was really into Chansung and his man bun lol. Here’s their first ever stage at Inkigayo. That choreo is exhausting. Surely they can’t do it like that anymore. I mean, Beastly Idols or not, we are all older now and our bones are brittle.

#5 Son Dam Bi “Crazy”
I was obsessed with this song. OBSESSED. This whole era, actually. The song, the choreo, the styling…I loved everything sooo much. This was a huge hit for her, and that chair dance is even still parodied now…dare I say iconic? How many times can I say “iconic” in a post? Honestly, it applies to everything this week! She’s been working exclusively as an actress for many years now, and is now a semi-regular on I Live Alone as well. Here’s her comeback stage on Music Core.
