Flashback Friday

It’s Friday! Every week I check the charts for this day in the week and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we will be going back 9 years to the 4th week of October, 2011. Most of the songs have been posted before, so we will see some live stages today.

#3 Tablo featuring Jinsil “Bad”
This was one of the singles from his “Fever’s End Part 1” solo album that was released just about a month after he signed on to YG Entertainment. It would be his first new music in two years since Epik High’s hiatus due to Tukutz and Mithra’s military enlistments. It was also his first release since that Stanford mess (that still makes me shake my head tbh I can’t believe those people). The song features vocals from Mad Soul Child’s Jinsil.

#2 Secret “Love Is Move”
2011 was a really good year for the group, and they would release their first full album in the Fall. This was the single from the album “Moving In Secret”. It followed two digital singles, “Shy Boy” and “Starlight Moonlight” from earlier in the year. The song would follow the same success, and debut at #3 on the charts.

#1 Girls’ Generation “The Boys”
Personally, one of my most favorite SNSD eras. Perfection is what it is! Also my favorite Sooyoung era. This was the lead single of their album of the same name, and one of their highest selling songs. They would also use this Teddy Riley jam for their US TV debut performances a few months later. Here’s their glorious 7 minute remix stage at MAMA. 2011 MAMA was so good ugh, it also gave us that iconic 2NE1 stage. Lol Min at 4:14.

Honorable Mentions

#4 Noel “I Miss You”

This was a big hit for the group, and would give them a bunch of nominations at the year end award shows. This was their first release in five years, and it would hit the top spot. As always, they sound really good. They always do well on the charts. A song that they released in November of 2019 would still be charting strong in 2020.

#5 Yoon Mirae “Get It In”
Ah Queen Tasha! This song sold really well and would peak at the #5 spot. It is a non album single, with no music show stages. So here’s the MV again. And we will watch the MV again and like it because she’s so badass in it. The song features the vocals of Jung In and her husband. You want to feel old? Jordan will be a teenager next year. A TEENAGER!
