#3 Girls’ Generation “Hoot”
I loved this era soooo much. That choreo? That styling? That big hair? That choreo? Ugh, A DREAM. This was the lead single of the EP of the same name, and the album would be one of the biggest sellers of the year.
#2 2AM “You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls”
I mainly remember this era not by the song, but by the belted suits. I was all “???” and I’m still like that 10 years later. This was the lead single off of the group’s first album. The album would peak in the top three, with this lead single hitting the top spot.
#1 Huh Gak “Always”
This was his debut single, released about a month after he won the second season of the show Superstar K. The song would take peak at #1, and his first mini album would chart in the top ten.
Honorable Mentions
#5 PSY “Right Now”
This is my favorite PSY song. It was one of the singles from his “PsyFive” album, which was his first album under YG. The song was banned by the Ministry of Gender Equality for the line "Life is like toxic alcohol" lol. Didn’t stop the song from topping the charts, winning awards at the year end shows, and performing it here, at a free concert at Seoul Plaza.
#9 Kara “Jumping”
A song that has never not been on my workout playlist. This song was almost simultaneously released in both Korea and Japan. And the song would peak in the top three in both countries. Ugh they are so gorgeous! And all the body rolls and little booty pops! I miss them so much.
