Flashback Friday

Merry Christmas to everyone that celebrates! Every week I check the charts for this week in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to see what was on top for the 4th week in December, 2016. Anyone else start holiday day drinking? I love eggnog sfm!

#3 Sechs Kies “Couple”

This was the lead single from the group’s first album in 16 years. After reuniting earlier in the year for Infinite Challenge, the group (except Ko Jiyoung) would sign on to YG and resume activities. Their first concerts sold out in minutes. They followed it up with “2016 Re-album” in December, a compilation album made of rearrangements of their past songs. I think it is because DSP wouldn’t give them access to their catalogue? Anyways, I think this new arrangement of the song sounds nice.

#2 Heize “Star”
2016 was a good year for her. And she would end the year big. This was a digital release that peaked at the top spot and achieved an All Kill on the charts. This song would give her her first #1 and her first music show win. I like the feel of this dreamy MV so much. I also really like her makeup here.

#1 Seventeen “Boom Boom”

This was the lead single from the group’s third EP “Going Seventeen”, and the follow up to “Very Nice”. I remember nothing about this except jackets wtf lol. Now that I’ve seen the MV again, I remember that opening choreography with the jackets. Everything else I’m drawing a blank on lol. Weird how the brain works sometimes.

Honorable Mentions

#5 B1A4 “A Lie”

This was the lead single from their first album in 3 years, “Good Timing”. It would also be their first comeback in about a year and a half. It was during this era that the group would have their first showcase since their debut in 2011. This is giving me similar sounds to my fav B1A4 song. Can anyone guess what it is? They were both written by Jinyoung anyways. I like how this girl in the MV changes up her look with each guy. All the cute couple looks!

#8 Sejeong “Flower Way”

This song was written and produced by Zico for Jellyfish’s digital music platform Jelly Box. It was Sejeong’s solo debut song, just a few months after debuting with Gugudan. She would get an All Kill as well as her first solo music show win. It is both Jelly Box’s and Sejeong’s bestselling and charting single, and would peak at #2.
