Flashback Friday

It’s Friday! Every week I check out the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s go back to see what we were listening to in the 3rd week of May, 2009.

#3 Super Junior “It’s You”
Personally, my favorite song from them. But I only really like 1 ½ songs from the group, so it’s not saying much…but I still say it’s a really good song! This was the second single from their “Sorry, Sorry” album, following the album’s super successful title track. I thought this came before “Sorry, Sorry”, this era feels like a blur. It’s probably been a while since we have all seen the music video, so let’s check it out again.

#2 2NE1 “Fire”
Happy 12th anniversary 2NE1! This was their official debut song. There are only a few debuts from this generation that I remember so clearly, and this was one of them. Here’s the song at their 2014 “All Or Nothing” world tour in Japan. This would end up being their last headlining tour. I was never a big 2NE1 fan, but this makes me emotional tbh. The four of them look and sound so good. And with Dara leaving YG this week, the last remaining member is gone.

#1 SeeYa, Davichi, and Ji Yeon from T-ara “Women’s Generation”
This was the first collaboration between the Core Contents Media artists. It was also two months ahead of Jiyeon’s (and T-ara’s) official debut. It was the first time a member of T-ara was revealed publicly. The song topped the charts for a few weeks, and would end up being one of the most downloaded songs of the year.

Honorable Mentions

#4 2PM “Again And Again”

This was first released as a single, but would later be included in the group’s first album “01:59PM”. It was their comeback after their debut, six months earlier. It was a successful release, and would top numerous charts. This song would also give them their first music show wins.

#6 Chae Yeon “Shake”
This was her first comeback in two years, and she would continue with the sexy concept that she’s had since her debut. But I thought this was pretty cute too. Despite her hiatus from music, she would stay busy on variety. This song has an electro dance vibe, and the album features a few club remixes of it too. Some networks deemed the music video unfit for broadcast, so let’s watch it!
