Flashback Friday

Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 4th week in July, 2014. I hope you’re ready for some mellow versions of these hit songs. OP is feeling very chill today.

#3 Block B “H.E.R”
The group was really busy in 2014, and in between two concerts series, they would release a new mini album. This was the lead single of the album of the same name, and is one of the group’s biggest selling songs. Here’s a special stage of the song, featuring a little acoustic opening.

#2 Infinite “Back”
I don’t remember this at all. This was the single from the group’s repackage album, “Be Back”. It was released two months after the “Season 2” album and the single “Last Romeo”. I remember that one better. This is one of their highest charting songs, and the album would also take the top spot on the charts.

#1 Sistar “Touch My Body”

They gave us a few songs in 2014, starting with this one. Gracious Summer Queens. This was the lead single from the group’s “Touch N Move” EP. The song would debut at the #2 spot, and work its way to the top of all the charts in just a few short hours. Here’s an acoustic performance of the song that I never knew existed lol.

Honorable Mentions

#4 Girls’ Day “Darling”

This was their follow up release to “Something”, and something completely different. I loved this so much. I could sugar pop my lollipop all day long. This is one of their biggest selling songs, and would also serve as the group’s Japanese debut the following year. It was also in the top ten over there too.

#8 San E & Raina “Midsummer’s Night Sweetness”
This collaboration between the rapper and After School’s Raina was a huge hit. It would get the top spot on all the music charts after debut. It also won a bunch of year end awards, and took #4 on the year end charts. It’s still one of my favorite K-Pop songs. Here’s a (you guessed it) acoustic live version performance. The two released a 2021 version earlier this month.
