Flashback Friday

Happy Friday. Today I ordered a pumpkin cream cold brew from Dunkin Donuts. It was trash and now I’m bummed. Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back to the 4th week in October, 2012. Ladies take the top three this week, so I let the fellas have the honorable mentions.

#3 Miss A “I Don’t Need A Man”
This was one of the two singles that the group released this year. It was the lead single from their “Independent Women Part III” mini album. The song would peak at the #3 spot, and the album in the top five. I remember really liking this song back then. And the styling too. It’s probably been a while since we’ve all seen it, so let’s check out the MV again.

#2 Ailee “I Will Show You”
I didn’t realize that this was released her rookie year. In fact, it was the follow up to her debut single just a few months before. This was the lead single of her debut EP “Invitation”. The song would debut in the top ten, and work its way into the top three in a few weeks. Here’s a recent live performance from just a few weeks ago.

#1 Hyuna “Ice Cream”
This was the single from her “Melting” EP. It was her only solo release this year. I wasn’t a fan of this song, but it would reach #1. I find it really catchy though lol. It was released at an opportune time, her appearance in PSY’s “Gangnam Style” MV was still going viral. The video for “Ice Cream” actually hit 10 million views faster than “Gangnam Style”, by nine days. Here’s her goodbye stage at Music Core.

Honorable Mentions

#5 Epik High featuring Park Bom “Up”

This was the last of the three singles for their “99” album, and features 2NE1’s Park Bom. It was the group’s first album in three years, and their first album at YG Entertainment. The album would peak at the #2 spot, while this song would hit the top ten. Here’s their live stage at the YG Family Tour in 2014. I think it’s really cute when Tablo calls her “Bom”. Everyone else usually calls her “Park Bom” on stage. Even Haru called her “Park Bom unnie” lol.

#6 K.Will “Please Don’t…”
This was the lead single from his “The Third Album (Part 1)”. It was his first full album in almost three years. Let’s check out the music video again. Honestly, the main reason why I remember this song is because of the music video lol. The MV stars K.Will’s former label mate Dasom, actor/singer Seo In Guk, and actor Ahn Jaehyun. If you’ve watched this iconic music video before, please don’t spoil it for the others lol!
