Singer IU recently expressed her thoughts on the public’s anticipation of her singing one octave higher. She astounded everyone when she demonstrated that she could deliver up to three octaves for her newest single, “Good Day“.
During an interview with KBS 2TV’s ‘Entertainment Relay‘ on December 18th, IU thanked everyone for their interest, as shown by the various ‘Three Octave Booster’ parodies. She said, “I’m really thankful. I’m living each day with gratitude.”
When asked about the possibility of going an octave higher, IU answered, “It’s not so much about being able to go an octave higher; it’s more about the fact that I’d have to sing for longer on a single breath that makes it hard. I can only go up to three octaves.”
The singer also shared essential know-hows on how to sing her three octave hit. “After breathing in as much as you can, you burst it out with a ‘Boom’.”

IU expresses her feelings for receiving her first ever Mutizen for ‘Good Day’
IU recently won her first ever music award for her new track ‘Good Day’ on Inkigayo this weekend. Although she won the award for ‘Nagging‘ with 2AM’s Im Seulong during their promotions, this was IU’s first award as a solo artist.
Shortly after her win, IU had a phone conversation with TV Report and expressed her feelings about winning the Take 7 Mutizen. “I’m still shaking, I’m so happy right now. This makes me think of all the people who helped me create this album. It feels good to think I’ve finally achieved something.”
She continued, “This was my first time getting into the Take 7 list, and I didn’t even think I would get first next to KARA and SISTAR unnies. I got changed out of my outfit without even thinking about anything, and for my name to suddenly get called for 1st place, I was just stunned.”
IU has been receiving a lot of praise from the general public lately for her high pitched notes in her performances for ‘Good Day’, but unfortunately, her fans were unable to watch the singer sing in the high octaves for Inkigayo’s performance.
A representative from her agency stated, “IU wants to keep singing it, but from the company’s perspective, we felt we needed to take into consideration her physical condition as a singer, and due to her busy schedules we felt we needed to take care of her voice. She doesn’t have any problems with her voice in particular. We are still in discussions of whether she can sing her high notes again. We hope for your understanding.”

T-ara members choose IU over fellow group member Jiyeon
T-ara humiliated Jiyeon by favoring same-aged friend IU on a recent episode of SBS ‘Heroes’.
During the episode, the cast members split up into two teams, the ‘Dongkatsu‘ team and the ‘Pasta‘ team, and opened up a restaurant.
Many fans were at the restaurant in support of their favorite stars, with even the cast members’ personal friends coming along to support them.
Jiyeon’s supporters were none other than her fellow T-ara group mates – however, she was neglected by her members once IU entered the restaurant.
The members ever jokingly criticized Jiyeon’s pink outfit. The members said, “What are you wearing. It’s stressful to look at.” To this, Jiyeon gave a stupefied expression and T-ara’s ‘Why Are You Being Like This‘ song started playing in the background, making viewers burst into laughter.
