SNSD's Yuri receives praise for her diet

Recently, tvN's e News discussed Yuri's latest diet plan. The plan includes seasonal greens, five brocolli heads, 100 grams of grilled chicken breast, 150 grams of brown rice, and more. The diet weighs in at approximately 1,500 calories per day.

Yuri's trainer revealed that the reason for her new diet was SNSD's upcoming Paris and Japanese tours and promotions. He also revealed that she actively completed both aerobic and ab exercises.

On the show, nutrition experts were asked for their opinion on her latest diet. Yuri received a score of 97/100 for her diet. Lee Kyungyoung, a doctor and diet specialist, asked if Yuri also had a nutritionist working for her as well, seeing as how her diet was so well balanced. Experts added that is anchovies or shrimp were included in the diet, it would score even higher.

Since the diet consists of 1,500 calories, it is easy for non-celebrities to adopt. However, the biggest problem with Yuri's diet is that it lacks calcium. Calcium is known to help prevent osteoporosis, and females specifically in their twenties are at a high risk level for developing osteoporosis.

Check out the segment from e News on Yuri's diet, below!

They're all so toned, so naturally their muscles burn about that many calories with just their basic metabolism...

idk atleast she wasn't starving herself and she did have a nutritionist working with her. I don't think she needed it, but it's her body so if she's happy and healthy, that's good.

Seriously, am I missing something or does Korea have a skeleton fetish?
It aint cute and I certainly can't imagine it's any fun to be on such a diet.

Also, I read somewhere that Korean women have the highest rate of osteoporosis even at a young age because of vitamin D deficiency. They do tend to avoid the sun at all costs :/

well lately I've been eating around 1200 to 1350 a day BUT I'm no dancer that's going back and forth between 2 countries. I mean her diet it's healthy and if done right you shouldn't feel hungry (well at least I don't) but I wonder if that's enough calories to cover for the ones she burns on stage and with the exercises.

I think this was her diet before the tour started. She said she wanted to get her body in shape so she could handle their busy schedule but I don't think this is what she eats every day now. They have said many time that they have nutritionists that adjust their meals according to their activity level . She looks like she's gaining a little bit back now tbh and she's not one of the members that you hear about fainting or getting sick all the time. I think she's fine.

besides making that poor girl jack skellingtons bride (sorry jack, love ya!):
wtf(ish)?! isn't it quite a bit...irresponsible showing a female idol with a nice, healthy body going on a diet and being praised for turning into a really almost-too-skinny girl with her bones sticking out, not mentioning her upper arms? what about all those young girls (10+) watching it while thinking "omg i knew it, i'm too fat! if sme wanted yuri to be on a diet, i should do the same!"

don't get me wrong, it's quite normal (especially in korea) to be thin if you're in the entertainment industry but yuri looks almost unhealthy and she's a role model for a lot of young girls. i just don't like the thought that there's an extra report for it on e-news..

That is not a well balanced diet. Having a well balanced diet is not just about the food groups you eat, it's also about the proportion. 1,500 calories is not nearly enough to keep up with her schedule and exercise.

Totally unnecessary diet imo and I think she looked much better beforehand. I say this as a Yuri stan--her health is the most important thing, so I guess this is good in the sense that it wasn't pure starvation, but it made me sad to see her changing so drastically.

I thought broccoli had loads of calcium...?
berrycherry 19th-Jun-2011 09:04 pm (UTC)
Yes, but 5 friggin heads is not enough to cover that.
weerainbow 19th-Jun-2011 08:55 pm (UTC)
:( why are so many people obsessed with being super skinny? it makes me so sad.
berrycherry 19th-Jun-2011 09:05 pm (UTC)
Looking at what they've shown in the clip it doesn't even look like it'd add up to 1.500 cal.
Seriously korea, you're ridiculous, when will you get your shit together.
ss501pixie 19th-Jun-2011 09:42 pm (UTC)
She looked perfect the way she did before
i hope she gets to eat more after the tour is over

Umm that diet would be great for someone normal. Like, one who went to work and maybe did an hour of exercise a day.

Yuri is like a frigging dancer, she needs WAY more food than that. Can we just put all idols on the Michael Phelps diet, please?
goshipgurl 19th-Jun-2011 11:25 pm (UTC)
michael phelps diet..?
